Hello everybody!
Two days left before the grand opening of the solo-show "Predictably irrational" by JonOne at Wunderkammern Milan!

We are receiving many requests already !
We are totally in love with the unique style that defines JonOneโs work, between Graffiti and Abstract Expressionism, and which derives from the combination of three fundamental elements: the calligraphic forms, the mastering of colour and the complex painting texture, which together inundate the entire surface of the work.
The founding concept of the show "Predictably irrational" stems from the reflection on the conflict between chaos and control; between that which we can foresee and the totally unexpected; between planning and improvisation. The dynamic that underlies these situations is part of everyoneโs daily life: we try to control and to predict future events, but oftentimes these escape our control, and, vice-versa, in that which is unforeseeable we can equally find an explanation, a sense of order.
On one hand, the works of JonOne seem to emerge from a spontaneous, instinctive gesture that is free from every restriction, and yet the aesthetic composition is highly studied at the same time, with each intervention springing from a precise intention. On the other hand, the symmetry originating from the calligraphic repetition is constantly shaken by the powerful superimpositions of colours. JonOne metaphorically transfers life itself to his work, which can be seen as the result of the delicate equilibrium created by the opposition between chaos and control.
The exhibition showcases new works realized on canvas with acrylics and ink. The artist created the works specifically for the show at Wunderkammern.

The title references both his roots painting the New York and Paris transit systems and the ongoing development and progression of his work. For anyone who hasn't seen the now-soldout French edition of the book, it's hardbound, 352 pages and covers his whole career from painting trains in Harlem back in the '80s to his current practice in Paris. As some of you would of seen in the JonOne tread he will be doing a solo exhibition for us at Galeries Bartoux, New York. Opening night will be the 30th November 6pm - 9pm and will run until January 8th.
We have just had released to us the artwork for this exhibition which I have put into a PDF. As I work in the London, Bond Street gallery the prices on mine are in pounds. Should you wish to have a copy of this then please PM me with your email address.

Love his work and its remarkable how he starts with graffiti (trains, harlem) in nyc.
I hope for him that he will have the "big break" in US after all the years in france / europe.
