Nice looking ptint, but definitely don't think the extra prints should be greater than the normal edition. For an edition of 50 I feel like there should be, at the most, 10 extra.

Sometimes the APs (particularly in France) might be better called the Artist's Edition. The last two prints I've done with French galleries were funded entirely by the gallery who then released the formal signed, numbered edition. Then they gave me an equal number of prints that are the EA (l'edition d'artiste) on the understanding that they sell the main formal edition first and I sell the EA later (I can also personalise etc) - but the EA is NOT the formal signed, numbered edition. Then there's your APs (slight imperfections or excesses to the numbered edition) PPs (for the printer to keep). Other galleries on other parts of the planet have not done it like this with me - and it mystifies some of them too. Itโs not an edition of 50, itโs an edition of 110. Theyโre taking the pรญss. What they wonโt be taking is my money.

They did this will all the previous jonone prints so i guess this is what will happen later... So my guess is they print all at once, and then they will sell the regular edition and later the hand-finished ones sold as unique APs.

Proofs (artist and printers) should technically be the odds and sods that weren't good enough to pass as the finished edition or show differences from the finished edition as the print progresses, eg: single colour passes from a multi-coloured print, dinks in paper, smudges, changes in the progress of an intaglio print, artist buggers up the numbering ;-) etc...

On this side of the chunnel the artist's edition should be made and finished to the same standard as the formal numbered, signed, gallery edition (except for the EA mark).
