Last artwork of Mister brainwah In NY, by Lroy on Sept 13, 2014 11:58:39 GMT 1, I don't know what you think about Mister Brainwash ' s hommage to the victims of the 11/09 It is not because it is Mister Brainwash ( well, he did not make all this big wall alone ) , and I don't ask what do you think of the painting itself ( this big flag, some collages - a mix with JR ? the little girl - , quotes, heart, etc... a bit messy anyway, but I don't really hate it ) , no, my question is simply : is commisioned Art, really street Art ? If so , all the communist painting of Lenin or the Corean walls, are street-art... For me, not, definitely ( I know that a lot of great artists - that i love - only works like that, with awesome artworks ( in the Bristol Upfest, at Nuart, working and being paid by the municipalities, etc.. .) , but here something annoys me a little ( maybe this big US flag and this big We Love New-York, I don't know ) ...
Where is the night, the run, the ladder, the beers, the adrenalin, the hoodie, all these clichรฉs of vandals ;-) , that we all love !

Last artwork of Mister brainwah In NY, by Deleted on Sept 13, 2014 12:46:53 GMT 1, It's awful.
The big black blob looks like a plan.
I agree it's all murals and given the name street art to make it trendy and credible.
People have been paid for painting murals on the side of buildings for ages.
Today it's just given a trendy name and the amount of products being churned out with some street art image graffic or logo on them is all about making money and churning out products rather than unauthorised street art.

I'm an NYC resident; not feeling this mural. I don't think many are, but it's supposedly gone in a week I believe.

I was commenting about Brainwash's so called art and find his art promoting himself in this way very tacky.
The big splash of black paint on the building from a distance looks bad in my eyes and how come there are many who dislike this piece of urban art?
My comment was entirely about his art.
and sometimes it's better to let professionals make art memorials rather than gimmick merchants who rip off images and chuck paint on them.
Get your facts correct too "wearology" in your pm to me. I'm pro American.

Barely about the art, if at all; shock commentary. Especially since the heart is lifted from a prior Mr Brainwash 'piece.'

Last artwork of Mister brainwah In NY, by Deleted on Sept 13, 2014 21:39:17 GMT 1, I read the original post and whilst it was clearly lacking in tact I didn't take it as either a commentary on 9/11 or as anti-American.
Whilst I appreciate why Wearology felt he had to edit it, I don't feel that his following post was entirely fair on ploppi. He (ploppi) may like to stir things up here but I think on this occasion he was just saying MBW is sh!t.

Last artwork of Mister brainwah In NY, by Deleted on Sept 13, 2014 22:24:29 GMT 1, I remember sitting with my friend for a week after 9/11, hoping that they'd find her father. Weeks later, they found him... He was a firefighter - the captain of his crew. They found his body on top of two other, younger firefighters. He died trying to protect them. Rest in peace. You are a true hero.
You also jumped in front of a train to save someone's life in the subway tunnels. You weren't even on duty. Your daughter got married and had a baby last year. You would be proud of her, as we are all proud of you

I said what the image reminded me of and thats why I don't like this particular artwork.

Then I don't know what to say. Maybe think a second or two more before you post, as you seem to be capable of offending people without any intention to do so. That doesn't necessarily put you at fault, but it does make you the sole person responsible for fixing the issue going forward. Not trying to be rude, but that seems to be the only other way to respond to it; stirring emotions unnecessarily is never beneficial.
Most of us are in agreement that we do not like this piece, and can find ways of expressing such without offending other forum members. That should be everyone's goal when expressing criticism regarding an art piece.

We should place this thread in its context first,... The art of Mr Brainwash (I put 2 links from newspapers speaking art, speaking about the discovery of Mr Brainwash and his ascension because of Banksy and Exit, questionning themselves about the " talent " of Mr Brainwash), on his work as an artist here on the wall and commissioned art. Nothing else. Nobody has mentioned it here , but we must be recognized that the "creations" of Mr brainwash are always as simplistic, childish and full of clichรฉs: lot of photoshop, pictures of children or police officers from another century ( the old good time? the movies of Charlie Chaplin ? ), of huge flags (US or UK )
Question " in apartรฉ " : Why the French Mister Brainwash has never painted in his other artworks a French flag? He is afraid to be compared to the National front ( Extrรชme droite en France?) ? Or so, unlike our American friends and Anglo-Saxon, it is, like most of the French, against French flag and against La Marseillaise? Since 68 and its cultural revolution, " wear " a french flag stands for shame ( It is the same in Football : the anthem is not sung by the players, and is booed by the audience, etc...)..
Short, what I don't like in Mr Brainswash, king of the hispter, fashion and " dรฉfilรฉ de mode " , is to share us his obvious lack of talent ( a lot of great steet-artists, would have done a tribute much more sincere and creative to victims of September 11), is this continuing bad faith and all these lies, too beautiful to be honnest . As he said in the new interview ' "him and Banksy are friends forever". Why refering again and again at Banksy ?! And Who knows? Talk, talk, talk...
PS: this thread was in no way - who thought this !?- an attack on the American people and the people of NY (I've never taken a plane and the first time where I will do so, it will be to go to NY before I die! ), nor on the appropriateness of a artist to give an hommage to the victims of September 11 ( of course we have to think to them ) , but a thread on the art commissioned and, of course the work of artist of Mister Brainwash.

Wasn't 9/11 an inside job anyway? There are a lot of unanswered questions about the whole situation.
ps, awful mural, Banksy's was much better.

Last artwork of Mister brainwah In NY, by Warm Gun on Sept 14, 2014 17:19:11 GMT 1, Oh blimey, we mustn't say anything negative about 9/11 or anything connect to it, even if it's really really bad otherwise the forum gestapo will edit it out of existence. Wasn't 9/11 an inside job anyway? There are a lot of unanswered questions about the whole situation. ps, awful mural, Banksy's was much better. just to clarify your second comment - no it wasn't an inside job. there is zero evidence that points to any involvement by the US govt. (trust me - if there was I'd be the first person to point it out. I lost a few people close to me that day and can say with certainty that they were killed by a foreign terrorist group) Yes, that's what I believed however the more I read on the subject the more questions I find go unanswered which leads to even more questions being raised. There is vast evidence supporting the notion that this whole awful debacle is not what it's made out to be, that recorded footage has been edited or removed, that news reports were altered, that 40 story buildings collapsed at free fall speed despite not being hit by anything (WTC 7) that the Pentagon was not hit by a plane, that evidence of explosives were found on the scene, that live reports of WTC 7 collapsing were reported 20 minutes before it actually went down, that molten metal was found at ground level of ground zero, that the hijacked planes were all way under 50% full of people etc etc to simply say that there is zero evidence to support this theory is misguided. It's all easily accessible if you want to find it.

I'm not a fan of this mural (or Brainwash in general), I don't think that it being associated with 911 should stop me or anyone else from expressing that opinion.

Nobody has mentioned it here , but we must be recognized that the "creations" of Mr brainwash are always as simplistic, childish and full of clichรฉs: lot of photoshop, pictures of children or police officers from another century ( the old good time? the movies of Charlie Chaplin ? ), of huge flags (US or UK ) Question " in apartรฉ " : Why the French Mister Brainwash has never painted in his other artworks a French flag? He is afraid to be compared to the National front ( Extrรชme droite en France?) ? Or so, unlike our American friends and Anglo-Saxon, it is, like most of the French, anti-drapeau French and against La Marseillaise? Here is what I think Dod.
Monsieur Cerveau Lavage is in love with Banksy.
Mr Brainwash is in love with Banksy.
Mr Brainwash is moving to live in New York.
Banksy lives in New York.
Mr Brainwash wants to be close to the man he loves.
Mr Brainwash is Space Invaders cousin.
Mr Brainwash is wealthy from property or his family in California.
Now the good part.
Mr Brainwash loves street art and artists and would make films of street artists and let them paint on some of his properties.
Mr Brainwash took lots and lots of footage of street artists including following Banksy around and filming Banksy.
Mr Brainwash took footage of Banksy at Disney World and other places and has footage of Banksy's face too.
Now here is a theory.
Brainwash was running around with footage of Banksy showing clearly his face.
Banksy convinced or persuaded Brainwash that he would make him become a well known artist in exchange for this footage.
Brainwash is in love with Banksy and Banksy is behind Brainwash art success and it's ongoing because no one knows if Brainwash handed over all the footage which showed Banksy's face or if he made a copy or not.
So the old saying about keeping friends close etc etc etc
a regular film noir film script.

""4. Shepard introduced Mr. Brainwash to Banksy in 2005 and Mr Brainwash โfell in love with Banksy.โ 5. Mr. Brainwash set out to make a film about street art and shot lots of footage of Banksy, Shepard, and others.
6. Banksy flipped the script, literally, and convinced Mr. Brainwash to let him direct the film and make it about MBW, allowing Banksy to take control of the footage, protect his identity, and turn their roles 180 degrees.""
