Art Print Storage in Plan Chests, by rjf76 on Nov 15, 2016 15:33:43 GMT 1, Looks nice this. I have often thought if I bought one of these suspended it on a wall (perpendicular) it would make a fantastic display for several framed works of art. The first could be mounted to the chest top and then one inside each drawer. So you could have one or two displayed at a time or simply rotate to the front. Madness I know!!! If it works for ROA, why not! Great idea....although its hard finding floor space, let alone wall!!

Art Print Storage in Plan Chests, by johntyyk3 on Feb 11, 2017 17:19:19 GMT 1, Hello everyone.
Firstly, forgive my ignorance.
I'm pretty new to collecting pieces, across the board from street art to movie prints. Passions lay in screenprint, stencil and letterpress.
My reason for starting this thread is that I am struggling at the minute to find a storage solution that can fit and work for the variances of print sizes that I am acquiring.
Based in the U.K., I really would like flat file approach (currently prints reside in tubes which I know is the worst!)
If anyone can point me in the direction of great storage solutions and methods it would be fantastic. I would love to have them all framed but that's not an option for me personally at the minute.
Prints range in sizes - up to just below A0.
Appreciate anytime or comments on this, Look forward to hearing for you guys! Thanks, Chris

Art Print Storage in Plan Chests, by Aza on Feb 11, 2017 17:25:12 GMT 1, Selwyn sleeves are probably the best, although can end up being very expensive. Cheaper route is just a decent art portfolio, just make sure you go for mylar sleeves to protect the art works. A0 will be difficult though, unless you have a lot of space to store. Under the bed is a good spot

Hi Daniel,
Yeah I was thinking an A0 plan chest like an architects sort of chest... but space is at a bit of a premimum in my current location.
That's what I would love at some point though!
Thanks, Chris

Hey Aza,
Thanks for that recommendation! I have to admit I haven't heard of them so will look them up.
Do you have any ideas of art portfolios that would work? I like the idea of being able to clip sleeves into a folder (portfolio) for quick viewing.
Thanks, Chris

Plan B could be 2 sheets of mdf or uncut mount card stuck together on one edge with Mylar sleeves for the prints in between. Tubes are not a good idea long term get them out asap

I like the idea of being able to clip sleeves into a folder (portfolio) for quick viewing. Thanks, Chris I bought mine so long ago I can't really remember. They weren't anything fancy though. I think the mylar sleeves are a standard size and number of holes so should fit any folder. The most important part is the sleeves. Then have a sheet of acid free foam board in each sleeve to support the prints.
Have a search in any online art store and you will find the stuff you need.

Art Print Storage in Plan Chests, by Iqra'a on Mar 1, 2017 12:30:50 GMT 1, After purchasing a standard flat file cabinet I realized it looked more office than street, so I took it to a local shop and had them make some changes. They removed the powder coat finish, welded on some heavy duty wheels, and gave it a new life. funny thing when we have to pay more for something to be less finished. Looks great!

Give me a shout if you're interested, I'm based in Kent and could probably deliver if it's not too far away Will also be selling the bench under the TV. The bench has some 'historical value'.

Art Print Storage in Plan Chests, by Trevorm on Mar 21, 2018 11:35:22 GMT 1, We're having a change round at home and reconfiguring a spare bedroom into a kind of office, utility room.
The existing plan chest is being replaced with two new ones - an A1 and a matching AO which will allow me to decant about 50 larger prints that have been lurking around, tucked behind stuff, in Selwyn sleeves.
Anyway, you are welcome, assuming somebody wants it, to come and collect on a f o c basis. You'll need a van or estate car - I'm happy to assist in getting it to the vehicle. Tea or coffee are not a problem but if you want/need a Hobnob biscuit you'll have to mention it as I'm still reeling after last year's Hobnob debacle ๐
