New Nick Walker, by Deleted on Oct 11, 2014 14:09:47 GMT 1, Nick Walker takes a bit of a bashing on here though sometimes. Why is that?
I think it's as simple as the repetition of an idea leading to people seeing it as banal.
(I'd hasten to add there are numerous artists who fall into this category presently including such luminaries as dface and pure evil)

TMA empire ap, now that's a nice print!

I can only assume that others have had this feeling as you are right, he does not get any where near the respect he deserves on this forum, for someone who was there or there about in the early days Nick's new work should be creating the same excitement as d*face or Eine. I do not own any of his work any more for that reason.. This is of course just my personal view. 1. not many ppl here would've met him
2.does dface and eine create a level of excitement?
3. these artists all have incredibly similar failings - unfortunately

I do like the way most of his drops are lottery based though . More fans get a chance to own a piece

New Nick Walker, by maddoghoek100 on Oct 13, 2014 6:37:01 GMT 1, nick is an extremely nice guy in my limited meetings with him. I dont think this is the print i would have most liked to see. He did a street piece here in NYC that i think is a similar concept that I like a lot better. Im certainly in for a book though, and i would predict a hand finished book is substantially more expensive than the reg, but if it is reasonable it is likely a go for me:

New Nick Walker, by daveart on Oct 13, 2014 14:42:00 GMT 1, I have great respect for any artist that puts their time and effort in and puts themselves out for criticism and feedback. it baffles me why people go the extra step beyond 'i dont like it ' to kind of attacking the artist. trust me .. look through all the warhol's ever made or haring's or any artist really.. and i challenge you to say every piece they created would make your wall ( i'm just assuming you wouldnt like Warhol's vast editions on male anatomy in your living room.. but hey .. to each their own ) .. i dont collect NW ..but since not everyone can snap up Banksy canvases at 100k a pop .. lets be happy there are guys putting out cool work at price points we can enjoy and talk about.. for some 18 year old new to the scene and who was 9 when Banksy work was affordable. id have a hard time telling this persion as a new collector to not jump on a NW piece to get into the game. why not ? whats the risk ?

I get what you are saying, but his price point is not really at a 18 year old spending level, atleaSt not most beginner collectors. I'm sure This print will probably be +500usd

New Nick Walker, by maddoghoek100 on Oct 13, 2014 16:32:03 GMT 1, well these wont be cheap by any stretch, and nick is a well established name, so im not sure i would recommend it as an entry point to get into the game. Probably a pretty good number of ground floor options i would go to first. If i was recommending Nick as an entry point this is also likely not the piece i would recommend. All that said people should buy what they like, if you like it in time folks will come around.

New Nick Walker, by nacional on Oct 13, 2014 18:58:02 GMT 1, In all this talk about "why do people bash NW"....noone in this thread, or any thread I could readily find, have actually bashed NW...the critique is directed where it should be, at his art.
To resume:
NW seems to be a perfectly nice dude, who may be prone to a range of emotions like a normal human being. His art has become rather repetitive and over-reliant on a single theme/ concept. Diminishing returns are being served up in terms of some people, ahem, digging him. He has a family, mortgage and bills to pay. He continues to do financially well from the TMA/ Vandal stuff.
Good luck to him!!
Seem fair???
