To love, my love, with love.
A recent commission, painted on brass with a bronze patina. I've been having a lot of fun on metal lately, it certainly makes a change from canvas.
I've painted this scene, in one form or another, as a commission a few times now but I love what each person brings to the story each time. I don't mean to sound pretentious but it would be fair to say I approach commissions as a sort of collaboration, there's more to gain that way.
(the 'And I'm Not Going To Take This Anymore' prints are coming soon, there's been a small delay, but nothing to worry about)

Ignoring the whistle of empty air, there was the tired fluttering of a wayward tie. The briefcase, however, made no noise. No noise when it was held, nor when it was clutched and cradled. With a fumble, the briefcase slipped away and, in that moment, he knew that no matter what noise he made, he would never hold it again.
I've got to say I do love a good triptych. The relationship between each scene can really tell a story and appeals to the comic reader in me. This was meticulously painted on anodized aluminium, as layers can all too easily lift away with subsequent layers you've laid down.
This is a commission but if you're interested in having something painted, let's have a chat about ideas. I say it time and again but it's fun to talk about ideas and stories, there's no obligation to go through with an idea after throwing them around.

No longer was he singing in the service of anyone, nor was she standing there as a maid. On that beach they found each other and shared a gaze, now free and without masters.
Referencing / paying homage to an artist of inspiration for me: Jack Vettriano. This piece alludes to his famous 'The Singing Butler' painting and, despite it's saturated popularity in the form of cheap posters and postcards, it remains a great piece in my eyes.

My small way of paying respect to the people who have given their lives to protect what they love.
Inspired by a friend's poem, 'Rest In Peace?' by Ben Reiss...
Requiescat in pace they say,
Requiescat in pace.
Easy to say when itโs in bed that you lay
and youโve actually got skin on your face.
If youโre slumped by a gun
(Which is broken and stuck)
And glowing all white in the sun,
Then itโs hard to see much peace in the muck,
When itโs your skull that leers at the Hun.

The remembrance service at the cenotaph is always a solemn and poignant moment to watch; the moments I feel proud of this country are few and far between (and often sport related) but I'm glad this is one thing we continue to do.

Another 'to love' commission, this time in a winter setting, which has some meaning to the owners. As long as each of these pieces means something to the people it's destined for, I enjoy painting these. I might, however, start to run out of seasons soon.
Photographing andozied aluminium is incredibly tricky and so other details can't really be made out, like snowflakes on the ground.
