I'd have thought you can send as a gift but insure to full value but you can't send with a value of 'x' then insure to more than that? Otherwise the insurer would realise that they are just getting scammed? If you reduce value to reduce customs then that's tax evasion? Or am I missing something?

Most couriers won't allow insurance for more than the declared value...period. Only way around that is to have a 3rd party blanket policy (gallery type policy, Lloyd's ect.) that covers all of your shipments and then declare what ever value you like. |
