Sandra Chevrier Les Cages, by Fะฏ on Dec 30, 2014 16:46:28 GMT 1, How would SC do a screen print then? Your statement just means she could never do any prints ever again. Just do some research before you say something like that. Any banksy print could be a giclee... But not Detailed SC pieces. Go and find out why. Just saying.

What are you talking about?? Honestly I have no horse in the race which clearly you have plenty... You're accusing me of saying things I never said, lol.
All I asked was for more screen prints than giclees. I had no idea you're part of the old-school Giclee syndicate and that my comments would injure you so deeply!
Sandra has produced SEVERAL SCREEN PRINTS in the past 2 years at least, which is why I felt my request was solidly grounded (and even better suited in the Sandra thread than the Best Pickup thread, since you're tunring it into the Best Putdown thread).
Behave sir.

It's amazing that with 4 words(?) you somehow read SO MUCH.

Sandra Chevrier Les Cages, by Coach on Dec 30, 2014 17:10:40 GMT 1, more screen lessย giclee pls Erm you must have no knowledge of printing. Go get some dude. to print SC work as a screen print would be impossible for the main part. why is a screen print better? Both are have qualities. if you are buying just for its process, go buy some s**t from another place and have parp on your walls.
If Matt Small's prints can be screen prints, why can't Sandra Chevrier's? Justina for example is a 20 colour screen print.

Is this constituted as fair play? I know quite a few comic artists and creators that would be fuming if they saw their work prominently featured in hers.

If she ever wanted to earn far less money than she is now, she could easily pursue a career in sequential art.

How much better would it look with layers of bold screen printed inks and a varnish over, an ink jet just don't compare.

and you could not have used a more terrible example of a screen print. looks like someone has been sick.

Are we talking about the quality of the print, or the image here? The print quality of these is hardly second rate.

The screen print La cage qui a donnรฉ sa vie ร lโhumanitรฉ is always the one my eyes are drawn to first. It does not have as much detail as the giclee but the colours give it a bold 3D look.
My two cents.

I'd also take a side bet that he'll be bigger than 95% of artists mentioned on this board in the future.

Sandra Chevrier Les Cages, by avec art on Dec 31, 2014 2:10:34 GMT 1, Incredible what screen printing can do. The finish is normally so much richer than any giclee I have seen, and yes I have owned a SC giclee. Screen printed layers of paint/ink have a 3 dimensional quality to them, almost as though the paint/ink medium layers are slightly embossed. Then a final varnish or spot varnish can really give it extra quality. But it's not suited to all artworks, and there are things achieved by a giclee that is tricky to be captured otherwise.

Sandra Chevrier Les Cages, by andyroo0312 on Dec 31, 2014 4:03:00 GMT 1, Interesting reading people's thoughts on the different print process. For me the process is as important as the image and with digital printing that connection between man and material has been taking away and replaced by something a lot more efficient and cost effective but lacking in that special thing that only a human hand can bring to the table. I also like all the imperfections that hand screening brings with it making the process even more unique and special.

I also like all the imperfections that hand screening brings with it making the process even more unique and special. I think it comes to what the artist is trying to accomplish and to a certain extent resources available to them. Some artists use Giclee not because they dont wish to have a beautiful 30 color screenprint but cost, budget, demand, and access to an experienced printer can get in the way. Giclee is the best compromise to many of these issues but given the opportunity I am sure any artist would jump at the opportunity to print whatever they want.
That being said an artist that continues to make print after print and keeping with the status quo in order to make money over and over again irritates me more than the artist using a inferior printing process. I would also argue that not every image should be screenprinted as well, yet some are amazing in the medium.
