Eelus - conjuring 2014, by sin on Nov 15, 2014 0:34:12 GMT 1, Yeah, I don't get it, don't support it and you aren't going to get me to. If you are part of this small group of folks, and you simply get in on a sale to make a quick $50, then you are a cock, or a cunt, whichever genitalia you prefer. There are passionate collectors out there doing their best to acquire what they like. Now, that doesn't mean that anyone who sells something is an asshole. Some people buy work, enjoy it for a while and them bring it back to market to fund other purchases, thats pretty respectable as far as I am concerned. Hell, someday (god willing and the creek dont rise) maybe some of us can sell our collections at a profit when we are old and live our golden years without worrying about bills etc. That's just smart and it took a lifetime of work etc. However, stepping into commerce simply to profit from it makes you a parasite, you add no value, you simply suck value from 2 parties that already want to do business, you are a leech, an opportunist and so short sighted I'm surprised you can tie your shoes. Go make money on something that shows intellect, or provides value to people, and stop captializing on something you provide nothing to.

Eelus - conjuring 2014, by natstan on Nov 15, 2014 2:09:50 GMT 1, In all fairness, I do notice and note that dono is kinda of an Eelus fan in possession of a couple of his works. I would have to say that whatever small amount he wants justifies his reason for having to arrange for the reshipping of the print.
I bought an unveiling recently myself. Can I sell at cost? No. As I made 2 purchases then and only one of which went through during the frenzy which many of us know, I was refunded by outsiders. But I live overseas and the conversion of the refunded amount meant I am about ยฃ20 short (I have no idea the currency conversion can be such a huge difference on a transaction in a single day). I emailed outsiders if that is an admin cost but no replies. Then when the print finally arrives on my shores, I was asked to pay an additional approximately ยฃ60 to the forwarding company to clear the local customs. That is on top of the hefty shipping cost charged by the gallery. And also, if I were to resell, I have to repack everything properly (I have to open up upon receipt and check it's not dented or defective), call the courier to arrange a time to be around for pickup (after getting and filling in all the details of the buyer) and possibly may even have to make a trip to the postal office to send the bloody big tube out.
My point is, sometimes there could be many reasons people can't sell their prints at cost (not that all those reasons apply to this fella). If he wants double the amount of its release price, we can dig at him for all we want. But some beer money + a little meal would be much appreciated with that markup. In a way, we are paying for his 1/175 luck to land the print on release as well.

Eelus - conjuring 2014, by sin on Nov 16, 2014 3:50:21 GMT 1, You and the piker who liked your reply can go fuck yourselves. Your "get a life" comment is a clear desperate retort when you know your position is indefensible. Some of us make our cash adding value to peoples lives so we can enjoy a life of Art collecting and you and the bullshit fallerie (fake gallery) jack ass who liked your reply can go give each other dutch rudders and snow ball each other. People that step in the way of commerce to extract value from it are parasitic third world thinking opportunists. I hope the 50 bones you made keeps you warm at night you tool.

Eelus - conjuring 2014, by sin on Nov 16, 2014 4:24:19 GMT 1, Rule number one of good business - everyone has to benefit.
These aren't laws, These are ethics.
Laws are statutory rules, created by government, that are at times up to interpretation or have caveats.
Ethics are choices one makes, not governed by laws, which show character and a persons commitments.
Art in my opinion is something that deserves a bit more reverence than your average widget. It's someone's creative contribution. Collectors are buying things they love and flippers are parasites who try to monetize that demand without actually providing value to either contributing party. I don't have give for these assholes. I Rarely sell work wnd when I do I check the persons intent before selling. It's my job, in my mind to help fellow collecotrs who have a place for the work squire it. Good galleries serve a place, add value to collectors and artists. Flippers and online falleries are parasites and they take from artists and collectors.

Eelus - conjuring 2014, by dono on Nov 16, 2014 10:28:09 GMT 1, You speak about ethic and respect and 50% of your words are insult and offense. And all this cause i re-sell a print near cost (at the end will be something like 12,50ยฃ up) to a forum member thats very happy to grab this chance. I understand your point about flipping, but in this case you totally wrong.
Print is sold. Mod can close thread.

Eelus - conjuring 2014, by sin on Nov 16, 2014 23:56:09 GMT 1, I never said anything about respect, but since too bring it up, respect is earned not given freely. Look man, you said yourself that you picked this up to sell it and make money. You yourself said you weren't looking to do it at cost.
So if you sold your credibility for under $20 then it just shows that not only are you a parasite but you are bad at it. In the future, keep your money, don't buy a print to sell it, risk looking like a parasite and then ultimately lose money (when you account for time).
At the end, you didn't walk into it under the banner of altruism and if you changed your mind, then rad. Next time, save yourself the trouble and let other people fight for a print they want. Rule #1 of being a criminal, if you are going to break the rules, make sure it pays well.
