SANDRA CHEVRIER PRINT RELEASE C.O.A GALLERY, by ksn on Nov 20, 2014 10:43:46 GMT 1, From what I've read about Sanra the reason she makes these pieces is a commentary on the objectification of women, my question is where does she go from here? I saw the hands piece, and the faces pieces, and now the whole body pieces with all varying bits covered in collage. Certainly an interesting idea when she started a few years back, but it hasn't seem to have evolved. It seems it's only been an year and a half since she's started with the comics and while it's still on theme, it has been consistently refined. You bring it up as if it's been half a decade, but the body and hand pieces are fairly recent evolutions. I'm excited to see how things start changing up.
Maybe I'm missing something, but my problem with this release and with some of her more recent (body) pieces is that the commentary feels weak. With the face collages, she easily creates a link between the censorship of sight and voice with the comic strip's perception of gender roles. I do see a similar message in this release but it's not as apparent. The lady on her knees looks more like she's ready to please than she is being oppressed.

Good points, and you're right, i'm not sure how long she's been making the pieces, but on her site the first exhibition was only in 2013, so plenty of room for her to move on to something else.
In her bio, she states (strangely in the third person), 'Sandra produces her work at a full-time scale, aggressively pursuing a common thread until it is worn away, leaving her to begin on a new path.' so maybe overdoing a theme is what she's in to. I just wonder what the new path will be as this particular one hasn't done much for me.

In a way.
I think the one on her knees is supposed to look like she's ready to please, which is how she's suppressed and the collage to hide behind is the armor she uses to protect herself from the part she is to play.
Having written that I commented on the canvas and I just realized you prob. ment the one sitting of the new prints comming out. Guess you could use the same arguments on the print, but she looks less innocent and more eager..
As for the prints, the one lying down looks beautiful as do they all, but she has an awkward position, looks uncomfortable and more of a pose than anything else.
The one sitting I'm more of a fan of but also here there is something off, she's to eager, her eyes are telling the same story the body is. I cant see any suppression or emotions apart from eagerness. And I would have prefered the white par between her feet to actually be white..
Not sure what to say about the standing one, its ok..
That being said, when I walk to the bathroom every morning I wouldnt mind passing on of these on the way. I will be gunning for a large on of some sort.
If anyone wants to have a look at the model search for Ginzilla on google, its worth a look. The three images is also top 20 on images of Ginzilla

SANDRA CHEVRIER PRINT RELEASE C.O.A GALLERY, by Fะฏ on Nov 20, 2014 11:37:44 GMT 1, not really - but you keep repeating yourself which makes it seem that way. saying something is poor is fair enough but it is all fart and no poo and you have said it again after no one responded to it the first time.

SANDRA CHEVRIER PRINT RELEASE C.O.A GALLERY, by Deleted on Nov 20, 2014 11:47:55 GMT 1, This thread is a microcosm of what the board has become lately. 1. Someone posts about a new print release 2. Someone calls it hyping 3.People who like it get upset with people who don't like it 4. People who don't like it get upset with people who do like it 5 . People discuss if the price is too low or to high Then in the near future... 6. Some people will purchase and be happy 7. Some people will miss out and not be happy (and some will complain about the gallery and their website) 8. Someone will try to flip it 9. People will be mad at the flipper, and people will be mad about the people who are mad at the flipper (10. and some people will probably get annoyed with me for this post) Very little discussion on the work itself, or people respecting opinions different from their own. I really wish this wasn't the case, but I don't know if it will ever get better. It's hard to turn around a boat this big Good luck to everyone going for the prints. I hope you're able to get one i'm not sure what your point is. This is an art forum where people tend to talk about all aspects of art. Sometimes it leans more towards monetary value and sometimes not. Maybe you could add something about the art to the thread (which, in fairness, this thread has more of than most, i think i addressed the art in my previous post as well as many others). But now, with your meandering post, you're almost inviting people to talk about you rather than the art which seems to defeat the whole purpose of your post (which is probably why you tried to delete it but still doesn't explain why you wrote it in the first place). It's another 'look at me' post in a forum saturated with them. It seems you want people to just say how much they love every release that comes up, in fact, it appears you wish the whole forum was a bunch of sycophants that just say 'wow, i'm in' at every release. It's a shame when people throw the word hype around, and just as big a shame when people throw the word hater around. Just because i, and others, think something is rubbish, or a money grab, or an insult to people who enjoy art does not mean we're 'haters', it means we're expressing an opinion. People who don't like Sandra, or don't like Whatson or don't like Banksy SHOULD comment on those thread, they should not avoid them. That's how critique works. And some phrase it more eloquently than others sure, but jesus i'd rather read a poorly written critque that makes me think about the art than some f**king 'i'm in' over and over again. You're partly right. Did you see my second post? I think I was wrong in posting, because it will just add to the tthread going off course. but in my defense, I I never said I don't want people to say they don't like her work. That's the opposite of my point, which I didn't do a good job of stating. I wish people would discuss the work more - pro or con

SANDRA CHEVRIER PRINT RELEASE C.O.A GALLERY, by Deleted on Nov 20, 2014 14:27:43 GMT 1, Such a shame they are Giclee. I brought the last two 'Batman/Superman' prints. I was disappointed with the finger marks / scratches that were carried over from the digital image of the original. They made the print look dirty and damaged rather than the illusion of an original on paper and are still tubed up under the bed. Come on COA! Give us some screenprints! I'd snap em up!

SANDRA CHEVRIER PRINT RELEASE C.O.A GALLERY, by dazarino on Nov 20, 2014 15:47:49 GMT 1, I love her work personally and these prints look really nice and very easy on the eye. I do think her work does not work as well in print compared to her original collage and paint on canvas so my advice would be save some pennies and purchase a og while it's still reasonably priced.
Just my opinion
