Maya Hayuk πΊπΈ Street Art β’ New Release β’ Art For Sale , by soam24 on Dec 2, 2014 15:11:15 GMT 1, meh. start writing outside the quote box you're confusing the hell out of me. it would be hard to justify (for me personally) spending $900 on a screen print that is folded. I mean she reduced the edition size of MV IIs to make them.
ADHD in full swing here.. please please please start writing in the white space below the grey.

Yeah, that's why I liked MV 1 so much. I was just always one step behind that print lol.

Sometimes I'm able to hold back and take a moment. I did. I am a Maya short, but $1000 richer.

Maya Hayuk πΊπΈ Street Art β’ New Release β’ Art For Sale , by kbfrombk on Dec 2, 2014 15:20:05 GMT 1, I don't think it'll do anything but Expand her audience... Now let's agree that audience and purchasing public are different categories altogether, ja? Selling a larger-sized print (this thing is huge!) with a tiny edition at a predictable price slope (OK no hand-finishing is sad, hehe, until the buyers receive them and start pointing out how each one appears to be a unique individual piece with varying registrations, etc. ) that is well in line with what has been easily agreed upon regarding preferred style, doesn't exactly lend itself to being called anything resembling 'limiting'; other than of course the limited edition size... IMO/duh by limiting I mean, out of all the people who enjoy her artwork and would like a print, only a selected few can afford to own it. this print is meant for that audience, not the casual street art fan who can only afford to throw down a couple hundred dollars every now and then for a print some artists sell prints for much cheaper to appeal to a larger collector fan base who can't afford OG's and buy prints as the only means to own artwork from artists they enjoy. some don't. some do both. I don't think there's anything wrong with any of these scenarios - but there is a different intended audience for prints that cost $200, and prints that cost $1K I'm not sure all of that is TOTALLY accurate...
Too many assumptions on the inner workings of one artist's mind and not enough 1st-hand information.
Maybe a casual street art fan has never heard of Maya Hayuk before therefor why would they be included in the "audience" being aimed at with this release?
Neither She nor They can be blamed for literally trying to be better at their job.
...Is how I try to see these things these days.

Maya Hayuk πΊπΈ Street Art β’ New Release β’ Art For Sale , by jlf on Dec 2, 2014 15:41:04 GMT 1, I feel Like I'm the only person that doesn't get Maya's work. I mean its ascetically nice, but not out of this world.
I don't really understand what its trying to tell me or why it's so popular? Any help would be appreciated, cause I feel like I am missing something here

Maya Hayuk πΊπΈ Street Art β’ New Release β’ Art For Sale , by thriftypix on Dec 2, 2014 15:50:16 GMT 1, Beautiful print, but let's face it: the price is a direct appeal to the positive demand curve "fine art" market. Maya's Xs have gotten hot and she is ready to leave most of us penny pinching "emerging artist" collectors (ok, THIS penny-pinching collector) behind. The way it goes. I could easily see her being picked up by a high-end publisher like Durham Press for future print releases. Kayrock does great work, but Durham is in another league (and part of the art world) entirely. I guess we'll see... Congrats to all those who had the cash to pick this up and frame it. The frame up alone likely will cost close to what the print does! Whoa.

Guess that leaves 2 options, they are either idiots or scammers.
If they can't figure out how manage online sales with inventory control, even by doing it manually, they are idiots.
If they are letting the sale go through, and the payment, long after they know it sold out to gauge interest, pricing, and build mailing lists, they are scammers.
Make your pick...
