Maya Hayuk ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข New Release โข Art For Sale , by DameHoracia on Aug 15, 2013 20:07:47 GMT 1, I hope someone can advise. I just received two Maya Hayuk AP colour test l & ll from a USA gallery. Other than sending them to me for shipping of $100 in a tube so small the prints were hard to release, in the description of both prints the gallery failed to mention that both prints have a white tape firmly attached to the top two corners of both. Surely this should have been mentioned in the description or via our emails? They also failed to send a COA from POW who they say the prints originate from. I was about to email the gallery, but stopped myself so as to calm down and see if there is a better way to deal with this. I hope someone can advise..
Ta very.

Stay professional and courteous, but let them know you feel you were mislead. If they don't agree to issue a refund, file a claim with Paypal or your credit card alleging fraud.

Maya Hayuk ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข New Release โข Art For Sale , by DameHoracia on Aug 15, 2013 21:32:32 GMT 1, Ok, I wrote a calm email stating my points clearly and asking for a full refund and that they pay return shipping for the prints. I shall see what they say. Bit worried that they will just cause a fuss and simply not refund. Paypal don't always refund either depending on the situation and this one is not the usual. I haven't had this situation before re no disclosure on the condition of prints sold via a website gallery. Normally folks are up front. Now it's a waiting game and I bet they make a hoo hah.

I don't think it's secondary market, cinders gallery just sold the color test prints. I think (but may be wrong) that cinders got them directly from the artist (they represent them) and maybe not from POW. They mentionned POW on the description because they are test from prints released by POW... Here is the description: cinders-gallery.myshopify.com/collections/maya-hayuk/products/color-test-2-by-maya-hayuk
Cinders can maybe provide you a COA.... (I don't know them) but you are right, they really should have mention about the tapes...

Maya Hayuk ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข New Release โข Art For Sale , by DameHoracia on Aug 15, 2013 23:27:38 GMT 1, I just heard back from the gallery. They said they 'can't offer refund', 'the tape is archival and added by the artist to hang the prints in a safe way' and it can be 'removed with water'.
They can also offer a COA, but only do so if asked.
I can, but I need to take the pic tomorrow. I don't think i will try to remove the tape myself whether it can be removed with water or not. I'm bound to ruin something.
They should have still mentioned the tape, archival or what not... The arrogance of some gallery folk in how they sell is beyond me.

Maya Hayuk ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข New Release โข Art For Sale , by randomname on Aug 15, 2013 23:36:25 GMT 1, Is it on the back of the print? It's fairly common to use it in framing, particularly if you float mount it. And yes, you can remove it with water. Personally, I'd take it to a professional and let them do it. Your frame shop should be able to handle it.

Maya Hayuk ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข New Release โข Art For Sale , by DameHoracia on Aug 15, 2013 23:42:35 GMT 1, I think it's best to get someone professional to do it. They have to be framed at some point so a pro can do it. No point if it can be removed without damage to go for a refund. My concern was it wasn't mentioned and the tape would damage the prints, but I can't exactly pop into the gallery to speak with them face to face now.
Mores the pity, they obviously think it's ok thing to not mention it. You think you cover all bases... Oh well. It's not as though I can have it framed, leave the tape protruding and write a note stating the stupid white tags of tape showing are because the artist used them to hang the prints safely... Christ on a bike - People!
