the print sat on ebay for nearly a year unsold at 1K.... so i am surprised it went quickly. wouldn't be surprised if i see it pop up in the archive sale for 2K later this week.

A lot of people out there don't trust ebay, but they'll trust a business like 1x. I think the chances it pops up in an archive sale are about .00000%, but I'll happily retract that statement if it ever does.

Most likely Maya's copy that 1xRun offered to sell for her, or she asked them to. Or they had their own copy that they wanted to unload, and now was a perfect time to do so.

Anyway, has hayuk ever been a strong painter fundamentally except hit the jackpot a couple of times with some X pieces that combine better color combinations? Over the years, I seriously think she is stagnating, and wonder what else could she move on to. She can only paint so many wallpapers. This print probably sees a return to her roots like these dolphins. Yeah, this was done by her donkey years ago and just about shows how strong her ideas and execution are in the very first place.  I always thought her a bit of a manufactured flash in the pan, Sandra Chevrier also. Β Just my opinion, but then I've followed art as an NYC'er going to galleries, museums, and supporting friends' art shows for decades. Β The X's are so different that one wonders if they are a "borrowed" idea.
I agree on Chevrier but Hayuk is an established artists, she's had an exhibition in the Hammer museum.
But this print really worries me. And her direction too. She should try to add less colours and forms.

Unfortunately Parkcity I just saw that she listed two editions of 1 for sale as part of Pow Wow Hawaii for $2200 each so not sure an edition of 30 will bring your break even asking price, but never say never. The good news is that I think both of those sold immediately so you won't have to compete against them. Honestly I'd grab it for my collection as I've yet to own a piece of her amazing work but I'm in a holding pattern for the about to be released "Pill a Day" cereal bowl bronze from Beejoir. Best of luck with the sale.

The one thing you're forgetting is that this piece is the best representation of Maya's street work that's she's ever printed. None of the other prints bar Very X even come close, and this is massive in comparison.

Oh I didn't take offense, no worries. Small point of clarification, the true flag print in the same size as MV2, but the BBB is a fair amount smaller, and Very X is even smaller than that.

So pretty close to cost. It was such a dope print. Truly massive though, need a huge wall. Also didn't get quotes but framing it would have been a pretty penny.
