Conor Harrington • Samson's Nostalgia Trap, by Nick on Dec 20, 2014 0:37:11 GMT 1, Looking at the pics I actually prefer this image to unveiling and don't really see it as less wall friendly. gotta presume it will hit the same levels. Nothing on the dead meat series though, they're a diff level..these giclees seem pretty lazy but when your og's are hitting £60k it's quite understandable that connor has had less input

Conor Harrington • Samson's Nostalgia Trap, by Poster Bob on Dec 20, 2014 0:40:50 GMT 1, Dont think the Unveiling stabilized around £500?! Think people were struggling to shift them <£450! Just from what ive seen i maybe wrong... If theres more to drop soon, i cant imagine the ones on Ebay will sell at those prices?! Bit of a shame that people waited in line for prints they werent actually going to frame! Guess we will do anything for a bit of extra cash! Market rate for Unveiling is £400 at the top end. Market rate for this one will be less as the image is not as good and the print is much less wall friendly. Nice to have some CH readily available though - should all end up in the hands of fans. "Market rate for Unveiling is £400 at the top end."
10 Dec £495 10 Dec £425 23 Nov ignored as damaged 27 Oct £600 + (best offer accepted) 26 Oct £450 22 Oct £550 17 Oct £490
Let's just take those prices because before then the end results were all higher. That's an average of £501 yet people still want to say otherwise.

There are better pieces that could have been released as prints. But at 65k a painting you have to protect your markets

Conor Harrington • Samson's Nostalgia Trap, by Shoeless on Dec 20, 2014 1:45:34 GMT 1, In a big fan of Conor. This print though is his third in six months and that bothers me. Does no one else feel the same? I liked the days when they were low edition but high price. The current prints are great quality but his dead meat were something special. Agreed. Small Town was the best of the three....but dead meat they are not. Still, even when he's missed it a bit, these have all been much better than most other releases this year. In my opinion.

Not sure why so many people think small town is the better one. In my opinion, unveiling (and even samson) is a better image whether we are talking about conceptual meaning, visual impact and technique. Small town is nice but it doesn't have such a lasting appeal to me. Maybe because small town has been done as a street piece hence it has more mass appeal? Or that the image doesn't require too much thinking to decipher? However, i still think a viewer can read the unveiling in so many more different ways, something which is very rare in urban art.
Samson seems rushed as many have said but it's still a technically demanding piece (the original work). It's the least appealing to me as it has a slight morbid feel to it. I'm sure CH has something to say in this piece as part of his 'story' but I want to walk into my home with a positive vibe, not stare into someone holding a scissors close to another man's head (I'm pretty sure he is not giving a haircut for a baldy) - with a nude chick in tow.
To me, these paintings tell a story in that order so it doesn't matter whether he releases 3 in 6 months or 3 in 3 years.

Conor Harrington • Samson's Nostalgia Trap, by Deleted on Dec 20, 2014 3:06:34 GMT 1, I think part of the appeal of the "Small Town..." print is that it is screenprinted, unlike the other two. At least for me. Also, I think it would look the best on the wall of the 3, because of the color palette and the fact that's it's not as busy as the others. It can blend in nicely in a room, instead of being "loud" and being the center of attention

I also think unveiling is the stronger image. I'm biased because I bought that one, but I think the concept is more interesting than Samson and it's more visually compelling than the punch up. I didn't know small town was screen printed.

Not saying fed you are thinking the same. But maybe the fact it is screenprinted means it has a lot more investment potential than the other 2 to many people?? If so, then yes it could be another reason it's more liked. But that has nothing to do with the art.

Conor Harrington • Samson's Nostalgia Trap, by Shoeless on Dec 20, 2014 4:25:51 GMT 1, I will concede to Unveiling having the most conceptual meaning, but it just falls a bit flat for me. I do like that Small Town is a screen print, but his giclees are top notch so this issue is irrelevant. To me, the images of Unveiling and Samson are more comparable to WWWK or Fight Club and when put up against either of those, Im left wanting more.
As I alluded to earlier, I think any work by CH is better than most and the recent releases have been accessible to those that wanted his work. Im happy to not need everything he does.....and happy for those that are enjoying the new stuff on their walls!

Conor Harrington • Samson's Nostalgia Trap, by BKBOI on Dec 20, 2014 4:45:34 GMT 1, I saw the originals in person. the black and white ones were the show stoppers for me. the pieces with colors were like paintings done by old masters that you can typically find in museums.
i have never seen a classical black and white painting of people in a duel so I feel that it was avant garde.

Plenty on eBay for CH fan's to get something! You very rarely see many of his older works from Dead Meat or Even older come up for sale. So good to see some newer pieces there for people to buy.

Conor Harrington • Samson's Nostalgia Trap, by vei on Dec 20, 2014 12:55:56 GMT 1, I think the last two of Conor's releases are his least wall friendly pieces. The are beautiful works of art and Conors talent is undeniable.
I really wanted small town and nearly picked one up on the day for $800 but I couldn't pull the trigger. The more that time passes the happier I am with that decision.
What I'd really like to see released is the pieces that is a collapsing house of cards. Now that would be a print and a half.

But that has nothing to do with the art. Personally I could care less about investment potential, but maybe that does matter to some people. Me, I prefer prints that are made by hand over a computer, though the Ian Francis glicee I just got is much nicer than I expected

Hate to break it to ya, cupcake, but whether or not this 'troll' is fed, I will not be disappearing, ever, until flips are no longest in existance. I do appreciate your persistence, however.
