I found this today and took a quick snap off Brick Lane. Not seen before, though it may have been there for awhile. With a classic Jana & Js piece on the door !

That is just awesome, and I don't mean that it the sense that my teenagers use the word, but it's real meaning. The way the video comes alive in the final few seconds! Brilliant. Technically this must be very difficult to paint. Up side down and as he's on a tow path, he can't stand back to see how it's going. Amazing! Thanks for posting this dread.

Gonzalo Borondo ๐ช๐ฆ Spanish Glass Artist โข Street Art, by dreadnatty on Mar 24, 2014 17:30:48 GMT 1, Gonzalo Borondo: letโs bring an end to โgraffiti-tourismโ
March 23rd, 2014 | by Katie Marston
Street art in Hackneyโs concrete โsafariโ is a worldwide attraction, but artist Gonzalo Borondo tells Katie Marston he wants to move the borough away from โgraffiti-tourismโ.
It is a sunny day in the south of Hackney and the hordes of tourists blocking the street corner are gasping in awe at what an older generation might call โgraffitiโ. Would-be Banksys feed off this fascination, and while hipsters pay homage, artists are usually the last to critique it.
Yet Gonzalo Borondo, one of Hackneyโs many street-artists-in-residence, has slammed them as โsafarisโ. While he raves about the importance of street art, he says tours are โnot natural. Artists do it to become famous.โ
Inside a disused pub on the edge of Victoria Park, Gonzalo attentively rolls a cigarette as he explains how he came to be here in his studio. Huge pieces are propped up against the walls, painted on anything but canvas.
โLondon is the place in Europe where things are happening,โ he says. โThere is too much repression in Madrid.
โFor me the streets are the best gallery in the world but you canโt live with that. Indoors itโs cold โ there are people who never enter a gallery. In the street the relationship and the context is different.โ
He leans over, tiny Moleskine notebook in hand. A face is sketched inside. โI love that piece.โ He explains that the real-life version is on the side of Regentโs Canal. โItโs a little bit special. When itโs quiet, you can see a face perfectly in the water. London is full of reflections and water. People need to adapt what they do to where they are โ Iโm not a factory.
โI want a dialogue with the street and the city. I donโt like advertisements and the big cities where itโs full of advertisements. We should respect the ambiance because that reflects the lives of the people.โ
Learning from the Spanish Masters
Gonzalo began experimenting with graffiti in Madrid aged 13. โI studied oil paintings with a master โ an old guy who lived in his space really, someone who was really poor but knew so much about art. So I went and drank and learnt.
โWhen you take the things youโve learnt from old Spanish Masters like Goya and put that in the public space โ when itโs not only aesthetic but with something behind it โ thatโs beautiful.โ
As the son of a psychologist and a restorator, his influences โ adaptation to the environment and fascination with people โ leap out.
He explains why his trademark focus is human figures. โWith the figure you can say a lot with very few elements.โ He holds his arms crossed, hands clenched. โIt changes everything.โ
