Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by Deleted on Sept 5, 2014 16:03:10 GMT 1, That article missed out a lot of good female street artists.
Most of todays street art is just murals anyway done with approval or officially.
There are great artists doing great images on walls but it's becoming just decoration and murals and will be the death of real street art.

True (and disappointing)β¦ but everything moves on, underground subversive movements generally either die out or if seen as being popular (aka there's money in them there streets) are consumed in to the mainstream.
I hope there's a few twists and turns yet!
Did like their comment about Bambi tho:
"Last month The Guardian covered Bambi, a woman street artist they dubbed "the female Banksy." However, after looking at Bambi's portfolio, comprised mostly of renderings of celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Amy Winehouse and Cara Delevingne, we have to say, we can do better. Just because Bambi sounds (sort of) like Banksy, doesn't mean she's the automatic heir to the street art throne.
On that note, allow us to introduce 10 badass female artists we'd choose over Banksy any day."

Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by Deleted on Sept 14, 2014 0:51:05 GMT 1, I don't think Bambi is shit.
When Picasso invented cubism which he didn't invent but everyone thinks he did.
Lot's of other artists before and around the same time were experimenting with and painting cubist art.
People didn't judge them and say because it's not a cubist Picasso it's shit.
Same thing today with the current crop of pochoir artists known as stencillists.
Bambi isn't Banksy therefore she is shit in some peoples minds.

Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by andyroo0312 on Sept 15, 2014 13:36:54 GMT 1, I don't think Bambi is s**t. Bambi isn't Banksy therefore she is s**t in some peoples minds. Bambi is shit in people's eyes for the simple reason that it is very poorly thought out and executed art,not to mention images that have no meaning and generate a negative response from the viewer ie " That's Shit " I was always under the impression that Picasso & Bragues developed Cubism with the later work of Cezanne being the catalyst, in fact the word cubism was not coined until 1908 yet Les Demoiselles d'Aviginon was painted by Picasso in 1907 the same year he met Bragues, today Les Demoiselles d'Aviginon is seen by many as the first piece that was to become cubism, Picasso and Bragues continued to developed different styles of Cubism for the next 12-15yrs, sorry to digress but I just wanted to try & enlighten Ploppsi.

The word cubism was coined in France when in 1908 Braque painted a small landscape with some square little houses.
Someone said to him that they look like little cubes as an insult.
From then on cubism was used to describe this type of geometric art style.
Picasso painted les Demoiselles D'Avignon in 07 which had the original name the Prostitutes of Avignon as it's a brothel painting.
Picasso based the style on African tribal art. It's not cubism as such but based on African art wooden statues and when Picasso met Braque he did paint in a more geometric way and the tag Cubism was used much like Urban art is used today for murals on walls.
His painting les demoiselles d'Avignon was given the tag cubism a few years after it was painted.
The geometric cubist style some attribute to early photographs by Marey and Muybridge influencing artists.
Geometric and expressionist paintings by artists in Germany and other countries at the beginning of the 20th century are similar in style but never had the tag cubist given to them.
Cezanne painted landscapes with elements of cubism or geometry since 1887 and Braque picked up on it as well.

I can only speak for myself and was not comparing Bambi,s work to anyone else's art, as far as it being no better than 99% of the art out there that gets hyped and traded you may very well be correct but that has no relevance to me as i don't buy it, i did make the mistake tho of thinking that other people may feel the same as i do for the reasons i do but i am currently working with my therapist on that, projection is something we all do but mine is getting better, apparently My thoughts are my thoughts and not your thoughts i just struggle sometimes recognising it.

Surely not wiz, that sounds a bit far fetched, i mean surely people buying her work did a little research on the history of the artist, historical sales/secondary market value and the journey the artist took to reach such such status on the international market, surely it wasnt because of a bit of wispy marketing and some blokes in suits promising shes the next warhol or the female Banksy, if its that easy i think i'll have crack at it meself....think ill call myself Bonksy, people will maybe buy my work coz my name looks a bit like Banksy, stranger things have happened!

Both, some buy art purely for enjoyment, some purely for investment and some for both reasons, I give personal opinion when asked about whether a particular piece is deemed investible.

Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by Deleted on Sept 16, 2014 15:09:20 GMT 1, Thats honest.
It's true that a lot of people buy purely for investment and the actual image is less important.
In an ideal world the art thats bought for enjoyment should hold it's value.
