Share the STIK love!, by Coach on May 19, 2016 19:28:29 GMT 1, Hardly takes the shine off anything, that amount is staggering. Well it does when people were talking 12K for a Baby or try to sell for 9.5K (Ebay). I bought some Stik pieces a while back because I liked them, had seen his work on the street etc and it's great to see his contribution to a good cause. I've had some brief interactions with him and he's always struck me as being a solid guy which is always another appeal. I am however tired of people always trying to big up the prices based on auctions that attract the more non discerning cash rich buyers. The reason Phillips for example are turning Stiks away is because they can't shift the supply at the prices that they have recently attained, which in the long term is bad for their profit margin - keep supply tight in the auction market to maintain the prices. The cash rich buyers can't be bothered with real enthusiasts or being members of forums like this where pieces change hands at more reasonable levels. In my humble opinion, the recent result prices a Baby at around 5K....still not a bad return for standing in line and shelling out 500 quid or in fact buying on Ebay at 3K a few weeks ago. Stik is for the people, its what he represents. Lets keep it that way and ignore the speculators!
The hype merchants have been very busy! I agree with you. It's tiresome. I can't imagine that the artist would be impressed.

Good for you for getting in early.
I've not seen anybody pricing a baby at 12k, where did you see that?
Phillips may be turning some Stik pieces away if they'd had lots of requests from people selling the same print but from my recent experience they are more than happy to talk regarding certain pieces

People who have his prints or canvass in their collection will always want top dollar to sell as the limited edition and sizes of his prints etc means it's very hard to come by another if you wanted to replace it ! If people are saying a print is worth this and that put it on eBay ( which most people on here use ).. It would give you of a true value of what prints are worth! If not put it in an auction out without reserve and see how it goes !!!

The winning bidder Keiran-James Brown who says he sold a well-known portrait of the queen to make space for the ‘Sleeping Baby’ prints, said this about the image “Having been affected by my own battle with mental health over the years my life wouldn't be on track today without the great support I've had from the NHS. These images reflect, for me, the fragility of life itself”

The Charity auction price at Christies a feel good bid and it just goes to show that capitalism is wonderful which enabled this price and capitalists to buy Stik's art as some sort of investment.
The buyer has a nice collection of art.

Not because of any sort of aftermarket price or hype, but because it's going to charity. People are seeing 32k and losing sight of why. Way to go Stik and the new owner. Very cool he has a personal connection to the image.

ok - we get it you dont like it. No need to put everyone else down who follows his work.
Maybe find a new word to call it something apart from Hype as its nothing to do with that. 'Bitterness' maybe.

The only reason you're here is to sell second-rate J-Boy art prints and to hype whatever you've bought. Are those Norwegians still talking about Stain on their forums? Is he still the next Dolk? Very few people here seem to give a shit about Stik as a human being and a developing artist. All you see is £ signs.

You, of all people, care for nothing more than money. They are constructive. Comment about the art and it's aesthetics and placement. How many of your comments have been about money FR ? not many, last one was praising the amount raised. no ones hyping here mate, this is a little bubble here and does nothing. ok - we get it you dont like it. No need to put everyone else down who follows his work. Maybe find a new word to call it something apart from Hype as its nothing to do with that. 'Bitterness' maybe.

You wont win the election you know, i think you are the stain here! clinton all the way! Not hyping anyway, been collecting a while and pleased for him and his journey.
Not an argument anyone can win anyway, wonder what would happen if people started invading banksy threads like this. not sure why stik warrants this reaction.

What do you think would happen if people did start invading Banksy Threads like this?
I am interested, as you have asked the question more than once?
My view is that pretty much every banksy 'art' thread I have ever read has had debate, i.e he has copied Blek etc, I think sometimes we can get a little 'precious' over the people we buy bits of paper from
