He writes like a peasant and his potential clients will notice. ย "Lamberty deals in Stikโs secondary market. We were very disappointed when English Heritage refused our grandiose project to decorate the chimneys of Battersea Power Station, especially as this would of coincided with the launch of Stikโs wonderful new book. " lamberty.co.uk/designer/stik/
ย Thats put me off English Heritage How dare they.
You'd think that having such a high end address for his gallery that he could afford a decent editor onboard Team Lamberty. That said it's not just Lamberty, the number of times I see gallery dates written with a redundant "of" as in 10th of June...grrrr. Being a pedant in this art game isn't easy ;-)

Most institutions don't have the funds to buy work, and that includes The Tate who are in the lap of the high-earning artists and galleries. No funds?? The Tate is just completing a ยฃ260million extension! (The plans for which predate and then glided through the 2007/08 global financial meltdown) So, not spending money on art then.

How they spend it is their choice, but they clearly have ยฃ260m to throw around so the funds *are* there, and galleries this big aren't reliant on the likes of D*face donations to keep them afloat.

You can get a new original for ยฃ12,000, so why pay ยฃ14,000 for an old one? Likewise, he'll have a new print out before you know it, so why rush out and spend ยฃ5,000 on the baby?
Realistically when the majority of people are spending these type of amounts on Stik when at source they were so cheap , it is as an investment / make a gain rather than the so called love of the image . I would rather buy a signed banksy at these prices . This inflated market valuations could so easily crash soon , Just like those that bought into Nick walker and deface 2007-2009

That's what I was trying to say. And I am agree with you. Since the post of Missyparrott ( if I have good memory , I won't look in archives ) about a Liberty sold in auction for a crazy and nonsense price ( then, came all the speculations and sales about the baby ) it was calm here and we all enjoyed photos and Stik love, As the amazing one posted by cyberkid Upthere too.
As said Sir Tati about movies ( I try to translate ) : " too much color distracts the viewer " We could say also : " too much money will kill Stik 's baby " Sorry, it was not my intention to hurt you, but at the end, it becomes crazy and boring.

Share the STIK love!, by treweman on Jun 8, 2016 14:16:02 GMT 1, This is what I like about Stik. I have a rather extensive art collection, and for many who have seen it (well, some of it) the individual pieces don't seem a part of a coherent whole. But there are things that the art I own seems to share. One of these is an attempt by the artists to put themselves into their work and to share what they are thinking or feeling with others. The pieces are not just eye candy, but a way for me to connect with artists as people. With Stik, I don't just see a solid background and a stick figure. I see poverty and homelessness, I see hope and love, and sometimes I see politics and world affairs. And I only see this because Stik has shared his backstory with us; because Stik has been so open about how he sees the world and his distress at injustice. Trite as it sounds, when I buy art, I am buying a piece of an artist, and it is just as important to me who the artist is as what he or she paints. I like Stik's work, and I think minimalist art is much harder to create than some detractors want to believe. But in truth, if I didn't know anything at all about Stick, I wouldn't have any of his art in my collection. On the surface, it isn't impressive. But when combined with all that I know about the artist, I find it rather brilliant. And that is why my five year old neighbor or any of those posting in this thread couldn't possibly recreate Stik's art. For me, the same argument could made about Banksy. His work taken out of context isn't impressive. But add the mystique of the artist and his/her political views and strong sense of right and wrong, and the art is quite effective. Escif, one of my favorite street artists, is another example. And yes, for those members who are going to blow a cork, I am comparing Stik and Banksy and Escif. None of the three (well, maybe Escif), has created art that I would buy and display without knowing the artist and the why of it.
