Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by Lazarus II on Jun 19, 2020 15:59:24 GMT 1, Crazy numbers on some of these. Some people get carried away in the auction house. Just watched two Bambi prints sell for over ยฃ1200 and ยฃ1600 respectively inc buyers premium. A quick google search finds the same two available for sale at between ยฃ350-ยฃ450 each. Why you would want a bambi anyway is beyond me. the folks who bid this for a Bambi print deserve to win it.

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by Deleted on Jun 19, 2020 16:10:45 GMT 1, Fair play again to the guy who set this up: www.banksy-value.com/index.php
The majority of the prints (Soup Can, Flying Copper, Rude Copper, Queen Vic etc) ended up selling pretty damn close to the print value automatically attributed to them on there once premiums are taken into account.
A really useful (although not perfect) tool for estimating values of prints. Top work.

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by LJCal on Jun 19, 2020 17:01:09 GMT 1, Starting to make less sense to sell certain prints at auction, for most of these lots I think the seller would have got more money selling privately especially if they are paying seller fees to the auction house. I'm aware a couple these had come condition issues but I went through the reports and I still think the sellers would have done better selling collector to collector. The only auction results I have seen that really made sense for the sellers recently is the Sothebys sale a few months back.

Agreed. Iโm not sure Iโd have any interest in consigning to an auction at the moment. I would have taken home less ยฃ23k for my RC in this auction when Iโve turned down ยฃ28k privately. Plus not sure I could stomach watching my print get sold for a disappointing amount. At least you know where you stand with private deals.

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by andypandy on Jun 19, 2020 23:15:19 GMT 1, Starting to make less sense to sell certain prints at auction, for most of these lots I think the seller would have got more money selling privately especially if they are paying seller fees to the auction house. I'm aware a couple these had come condition issues but I went through the reports and I still think the sellers would have done better selling collector to collector. The only auction results I have seen that really made sense for the sellers recently is the Sothebys sale a few months back.
Buy at Bonhams and sell at Sothebyโs. Generally seems to be a pattern of lower results coming out of Bonhams and higher coming from Sotherbys. It does concern me about the U/S market once we reach the final quarter of the financial year and the recession is in full affect, I do envisage more and more Signed prints coming to market. Iโm obviously hoping prices continue to hold up. The U/S GWB really surprised me especially considering it has quite a few creases and a black stain. Yeah it can be framed out but thatโs a massive chunk to spend on a print which you could probably find for ยฃ80-ยฃ90k. I was offered one for ยฃ40k about 18 months ago and sat on it for about 3 days after which it time it had sold!

I was offered one for ยฃ40k about 18 months ago and sat on it for about 3 days after which it time it had sold! I wouldnโt worry too much, asset prices are going to stay well pumped for a while yet. Stacks of the cheap/free money sloshing round is finding itโs way into fine art, itโs a great portable way to make wealth vanish.
Starting to make less sense to sell certain prints at auction, for most of these lots I think the seller would have got more money selling privately especially if they are paying seller fees to the auction house. The U/S Girl With Balloon really surprised me especially considering it has quite a few creases and a black stain. Yeah it can be framed out but thatโs a massive chunk to spend on a print which you could probably find for ยฃ80-ยฃ90k.
