Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by robinbanks on Apr 15, 2008 18:36:14 GMT 1, Just got back from viewing. Think Tank is un-bloody-believable, quite how Bonham's are valuing this at £50-£70k is beyond me. I suppose we'll see tomorrow but I'll be surprised if it doesn't break £100k.
Neate's Red Portrait is another highlight - absolutely stunning in the flesh. Probably the best portrait I have ever seen by any artist.
On a side note - couldn't believe how shoddy some of the displays were - some of the prints were just covered in a sheet of plastic and attached to the wall with a bulldog clip and a nail.

Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by sparkledusted on Apr 16, 2008 5:40:22 GMT 1, Pest Control is both brilliant and excellent! I just checked out their site and saw an online submission form.
As a guy living across all kinds of ponds--I'm an east coast Yank now living in Kyoto, Japan--I am looking to buy a first good banksy, but am terrified by all the scams and forgeries out there.
Living where I do it is impossible to bring to POW for verification, pick up in person and check, view before bidding, etc.
What do you good people think: would it be possible, feasible to have a COA from Pest Control as the new gold standard of authentication to accompany a banksy print when sold in the secondary market?
Would, for a fee, Pest Control routinely examine and certify (or not) a questionable piece? Anybody on this forum juiced enough with anybody at Pest Control...got connections to see if such a system could be implemented?
If buyers started demanding a Pest Control COA as a requirement to complete the sale--show me the PC COA & I show you the money!--it would eventually force sellers to provide one. Sellers proactive enough to get one in advance of a sale would have a leg up. Perhaps both parties could split the fee the way some folks do with PayPal now.
Especially useful regarding the great early prints (like I want one day) Happy Choppers, Love...Air, Bomb Hugger, with all their "bought in Bristol at Greenleaf books, no prov, no receipt, trust me."
I'm not high on crack here, but not sure at all if this would be possible to institute; think it would be a great system, on par with what the Warhol Foundation does with all those dubious Andys out there.
Interested in any comments any of you have--more interested in getting the ball rolling on establishing this type of a system.
Thanks and Peace, Michael

Apparently so. Down to some very good detective work by a fellow forum member.

Absolutely. He looked at his wall and realised he had the real one hanging there. Now that must make you double-take! Would give you the shakes even when you know yours is the original!

Thanks Mike. I'm watching the results from a bar in Dublin and thought it might just be dodgy wi-fi - seemed like a lot of things not meeting reserve
