Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by jB on Oct 14, 2009 8:28:36 GMT 1, ryca - when did you do that particular piece? and who is entering it into this auction?
edit - obviously 2009, but seems fairly recent for an auction

Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by RYCA on Oct 14, 2009 8:42:26 GMT 1, I DECIDED TO PUT THIS INTO AUCTION MYSELF. RATHER THAN ON MY WEBSITE FOR SALE OR IN A SHOW OR LET A THIRD PARTY ENTER IT IN TO AUCTION, THE LAST PIECE THAT SOLD IN AUCTION (FEB 2009) WAS A GREAT RESULT! ITS A ONE-OFF UNLIKE THE OTHERS I HAVE MADE, AN AUCTION SEEMS THE FAIREST WAY? AND I DIDN'T REALLY WANNA PUT IT ON EBAY WITH A BUY-IT-NOW...

Anyone been to view? my mum went today to have a look at the Mike Francis 'Modern Girl' but didnt like it in the flesh apparently, she said the walker on metal is without a doubt the stand out piece of the show, that and CND soldiers.....
anyone else think its weird that my mum calls me to discuss banksy these days? i remember her saying how rubbish it all was a few years back.....

Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by Harveyn on Oct 21, 2009 18:02:47 GMT 1, Nice price on the Mica canvas at £12k. CND and Toxic signed at £2880 sounds about right.
Lovely Damien Hirst spin went well over estimate at £12600. My bid on that was slightly cheeky given the result.
Good results for the Dennings.

Anyone been to view? my mum went today to have a look at the Mike Francis 'Modern Girl' but didnt like it in the flesh apparently, she said the walker on metal is without a doubt the stand out piece of the show... Not surprising mums are into glitter and butterflys, just don't get why edgy urban artists are into it. Anyway yet another hideously overestimated unsold work.
That Faile, is hideous too, color palette is awful. Must be 3rd time that's hit the block, they nee dto just let it go with 0 reserve.
Banksy's at 2880 were a good price. But overall a lot of unsold work. I think they did set the record last fall for worst sale ratio. So Bonhams is where you go when you want your lot to not sell?

Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by Philippe on Oct 21, 2009 22:31:07 GMT 1, The seller made a poor decision there but the buyer certainly didn't. Great price for a quality piece.
The Faile on the other hand, it's just depressing what that guy is trying to do. He buys it in 02' for nothing and keeps flogging it through auction houses after bonhams quoted him $14k for it. Well perhaps Bonham's isn't the best judge of pricing for this sort of thing...sad really.

Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by Pattycakes on Oct 22, 2009 14:31:10 GMT 1, probably not. There was no real top quality material in the sale to hook in buyers either, which makes me think that either they are having trouble attracting decent consignments, or they are holding material back for more appropriate sales. I think to be honest it's the former, Bonham's have never really been able to sell contemporary art well, and in a market like this the vendors go where they will get the most money, when it comes to original works that is Sotheby's, Christie's, and PdeP. Bonham's and the other smaller houses do well in boom times with hot ticket items because they thrive one the cast offs from the bigger houses, since the bigger houses now need the lower value original works to balance their bottom line the smaller houses lose out.
