A wheel of French Gruyรจre (similar to Emmental) weighs about 35 kg (close to 80 lb).
In France, I believe one kilogram sells at around 12 to 15 euros.
That works out to around US$500 or US$600 โ at least based on the price of the cheese in France and per kilo.
Edit: My understanding is that the cheese was brought over from France by friends of the artist.

It's an anti-show, and whilst that concept in itself is inadequately contrived and somewhat churlish, the opening night alone made an all too overdue mockery of the greed inherent in 'the scene' in a way that I can only applaud.

I agree. I don't collect dran, but I enjoy seeing works posted on the forum. The show is counter-cultural and hilarious. This is my new favorite thread. I'm envious of those that can go and see what happens next.

I hope there is some real progress next week and that's you don't have to camp outside like some autograph hunter to actually see something happening.

Should not of had an opening night imo.I know people didn't have to go but they went to see him paint and maybe have a chat with the guy.
Maybe a closing night when it's done should have been better.

As long as he doesn't literally urinate on his queuing fans or anything, I don't see anything wrong with what he's doing or what he's done so far. Nobody was promised anything. And he seems happy for the show to be spontaneous and to be made up as he goes along. So, it's up to him. It's his career. His life.
I'll hopefully be able to go to the show later this month. If there's something there to see, great. If not, I get to have a day out in London. I might even meet a mugger.
And in the spirit of this being some sort of backwards art show, I might take a sketch along for him to erase.

Just fun to see how long the hype-crowd will cling to the concept before realizing they're being trolled.

This is literally no different than buying cheese and walking the streets of London looking for new pieces being thrown up.
