Not sure I agree with that. Most actually feel very original and unique. Tabby just isn't one of them...

Also just saw there are only 4 of the regular edition prints left; am all about UTB long-term fans getting first dibs, but now I kinda feel bad for TABBY fans who don't know about UTB since it looks like they'll sell out before the general release.

Acidburn were any held back for the general release on thursday?

Obviously folk don't hang around when they see something they like.

There have been plenty on here that have criticized Eine, Faile, Swoon, Invader, and ROA for repetitive style and not trying new things. Not sure what you mean by examples; I meant more that there are clearly people in this thread who are liking/enjoying his art and think he is talented and creative.

The 'sore' comment thing was more about you referring to him as untalented as though it was an objective statement rather than an opinion.

But they're repeating their own styles. Not trying to be argumentative, but Tabby is repeating run of the mill "clever" stencils, not any style that he himself created. It's not like faile's comic book collage style, or swoon's wheatpastes IMO.

I agree. There is an oddly playful element to Tabby's stuff that I feel is not there with other artists. Maybe it is a lack of social commentary (which banksy's stuff is full of), or his use of what almost seems to be exclusively positive images or making potentially controversial images positive. I know these are over generalizations, and not everything fits all his work fits in this description, but I think the abundance of positive images contributes to my overall feeling his artwork is clever, playful, and uplifting. I don't get that same vibe from any other stencil artist (Banksy with certain pieces, but not on the whole).

Whether or not you appreciate Tabby I have to say it is a strong release at a pretty darn good price. I've been corresponding with Tabby by email and he seems to be a down to earth kind of guy. Congrats to all those who were able to score the colored variants. Good job UTBNYC.

Totally agree with @yesss This release appears to have sold out mostly through word of mouth. Asides from being a wall-friendly image, my guess is that a lot picked up the print purely as a speculative punt, given the relatively low release price. There will no doubt be a few making their way to ebay for those who missed out.

I have a few Tabby OGs (not selling). IMO TABBY is defo one to watch for the future. No hype.

I think the screenprint will sell because it has the look and feel of being very Banksyish (it has that dark humour) without being by Banksy and intentional or not think does not matter considering that Banksy prints have a Warhol look about them apart from the rats etc which have a Blek look about them.

I find it odd that some who like Banksy prints and collect Banksy won't consider prints by other "street" artists which are available at a far lower price to complement their collection.

The way I see it.

Tabby makes street art.

It's quirky and fun.

Makes a screen print and why not buy it.

Is it no good because it's not retailing at big auction house for thousands and thousands of pounds.

I understand your point completely. Please don't think that I am comparing Tabby to Banksy because I'm not. The social commentary/ parody is not on the same level. However, remember what Banksy's sold for on early releases or when Laz was selling them out of the back of his car. I think Tabby though witty is still in his infancy but definitely one to watch progress.
