Harland Miller "Behaviour vs. Behaviour" LA Exhibition, by Matt-lock on Feb 24, 2015 20:29:20 GMT 1, At Stephen Webster Harland Miller is showing a full set of his Hand Painted Prints. These are prints which
are not part of the original edition because they are either proofs or extras made during the edition run.
Miller combines two of the mediums that most strongly define his artistic work, painting and print, by re-working these pieces. He does this by painting or drawing onto the surface, adding annotations, changing
areas of colour and bringing further layers of meaning to each individual piece.
We are very happy to offer these unique works, available and seen together for the first time.
Opening: March 11th, 2015 / Exhibition runs through April 4th.

We have a creative space above the store where we host exhibitions and creative collaborations. We have done quite a few in the past 4yrs including the D*Face show early last year.

The sort of thing one might see on 2-1/2 men or Frasier where the couple are divorcing and arguing over who gets the Harland Miller print.

That is a very good question and one i am struggling to answer with out getting all deep and meaningful on you but basically i buy HM because i love it and it makes me think how lucky i am that i can afford one. Its a spiritual thing. |

Hey yoyosh, everything was confirmed to be artist proofs but not numbered editioned artist proofs...actual artist proofs...with notes to the printers, adjustments, etc. Many of these notes have been painted over or incorporated into the pieces. Sorry if the "extras" mentioned in the original text had a negative connotation to you but I think any printer/artist out there will print proofs or "extras" along the way as part of the process.
He never produced "extras" with the intent to sell alongside the actual editions...they are true test proofs he then decided to rework into hand finished unique pieces. And calling them hand finished doesn't even do it justice. Many have been completely reworked with layers and layers. Hard to tell in a single PDF photo.
Also, more than half of these were never made into editions although tests/proofs were still created along the way to see if he wished to create editions at the time.
