Banksy in Gaza โข 2015 ๐ต๐ธ, by otomi on Feb 26, 2015 23:36:15 GMT 1, Haha true. He's Banksy. He can get away with anything. He just sneaked in and out of palestine, also doing some painting while being there......... the guy does get away with everything! I don't think he would have gotten away with making fun of the Hamas.

Is it a coincidence that people start painting Banksy images or did they copy him because the man was just there?....

Banksy in Gaza โข 2015 ๐ต๐ธ, by met on Feb 27, 2015 16:28:21 GMT 1, Damn, it looks like some guys actually stared at that for a bit trying to figure out how to still ruin it despite the plexi. Shame, but I suppose better than other paths some outdoor Banksys have taken. Now if only the poor boy knew how to spell Graffiti.....
Fail!!!!
You're probably correct about the culprit having been a boy, and one with poor spelling.
There is a small possibility, however, that the typo was a knowing, old-school Banksy reference.

And how did he came up with using Foolish Flock as the soundtrack?

Banksy in Gaza โข 2015 ๐ต๐ธ, by Lroy on Feb 27, 2015 22:52:19 GMT 1, Anyway, these Banksy 's pieces were prepared from a long date I guess. Or, transactions, from hands to handsome not. The quality of the video shows that Banksy invested a lot and had entries to Gaza. It is not only street-art , it is social art and Banksy acted as a media to adress his artworks and requests to the world.
Just another point of view, maybe silly, but even if Banksy sounds like a magician, all of this ( as for Botti ) needs a lot of works, thoughts and , of course, money...
Ps: funny but without to offend Banksy and his fans, the " pieta " makes me think to Blek-le-rat style, ideas and stencils : Classic. Not you ?

Banksy in Gaza โข 2015 ๐ต๐ธ, by Mirus Gallery Poesia on Feb 28, 2015 0:34:01 GMT 1, Can a style of aesthetic get Old, or not be as powerful. For some reason maybe its because so many artists have appropriated the work of banksy these new works just arent moving the needle for me. I think the video is stronger than the actual pieces and maybe thats the progression for Banksy and where he has become strongest. The statue pieces is solid, but the others are weak for me. I am not sure this type of stencil has the same power as it used to, I seen some others actually creating better images with the technique. I always put Banksy above them but I have to be honest at what I am seeing.

Sadly I think you have missed the point regarding the recent pieces in Gaza. Placement is key in these pieces not technique. He didn't go there to make a pretty painting for us to enjoy over our cheese and wine, he went there to make a point. Take another look at a map, its in Gaza!!!!

I think I understood the point, this has nothing to do with being technical or technically executing a better image. My point is that his images do to other artists appropriating his style his voice has weakened in a way as a painter. His images now could be from him or any other artist. Technically these images are fine but overall 2 of them are weaker than normal. The statue is strong, the 2nd image is ok and the Cat image is very weak IMO. Being painted in Gaza doesnt make the images stronger, the video and commentary illustrates the concept perfectly. The video is the strongest image and commentary, which to me is why Banksy is still ahead of everyone. His overall message is in the video yet his stencils seem to be secondary now and weaker than his past work. His earlier work in the Middle east was much stronger visually, but this new video is much stronger overall.
I am just saying that its not about the stencils anymore for me with his work, they seem to be secondary now as he progresses as an artist/activist.

Regarding the kitten, we'll have to disagree. In isolation, the image itself isn't great. But when the work is taken as a whole โ to include the kitten's "ball of yarn", and the accompanying explanatory text about the artist's intent and his views on what interests people on the internet โ I believe it's the strongest Gaza piece.

Banksy in Gaza โข 2015 ๐ต๐ธ, by Dr Plip on Feb 28, 2015 11:32:24 GMT 1, I think Banksy's top notch placement is pretty much his signature now. I don't know whether it's mind-expanding substances or genetics, but few other street artists seem to have the same level of creativity or way of looking at the world. There's an element of money involved, I'm sure it costs to travel and arrange all this, but better this than seeing someone trying to work out how many different print editions they can release this month (no offense intended to anyone that has any prints out this month).

Banksy placement is great. Although his placement is starting to become something only someone with money could pull off. An interesting part of him being a 'street artist' still.
