The year is 2065. There is an Urban Art retrospective..., by Oski on Mar 3, 2015 5:46:29 GMT 1, As for Paul Insect, his show last year at Allouche Gallery was maybe the best show I've ever seen, across all genres, artists both living or dead. I think his work is beginning to transcend the boundaries of any one genre and if he continues to evolve, he will eventually go down as one of the defining artists of our generation. but again, just my opinion and unfortunately, my opinion doesn't carry too much weight in the art world I was at the Paul Insect show at Allouche. It was a great show from the perspective of consistency. Across all the work, large and small, painting to collage to print, it was all quality. No fillers there. But it otherwise was fairly ho hum.
I hate to beat the WK horse, but his 25 year retrospective was the best show I've ever seen...hands down. It was filled with artwork, installations, objects of interest, and artistic mise en place. Don't know if you came across this video during your internet research after I mentioned it previously, but it'll give you an idea of the scale and scope. I went 3 times (opening, middle, closing) because it was that incredible. He was also there all 3 times, discussing his work, signing everything in sight, and was clearly dedicated to his art. I've never been to an art show at a gallery more than 2 time during the same run. I sometimes wish it was still up so I can keep going back, because his work is so textured and layered. It can take awhile just to absorb a single piece. I don't want to sound like such a fan boy, but his street work in SoHo in the 90s was the primary reason for my interest in this genre.
Please watch the video through its entirety and let me know if you've seen any show so polished and thorough outside a major career retrospective at a top museum.

The year is 2065. There is an Urban Art retrospective..., by letiss on Mar 3, 2015 14:47:48 GMT 1, Press Release for the 2065 Retrospective.....
...."After Harry Styles' 2015 gift of a Banksy print to every 4 star and above member of the UAA , he cemented himself as the most popular celebrity on the niche online forum.
In more recent years the fusion of artist and musicians has seen under Styles' careful curation such collaborations as Borf and Gary Barlow's influential Norway installation and Stik and the Vengaboys New York residency.
The now ageing Styles will bring many of these collabs along with work from 3 times Turner Prize winner Bambi to his new retrospective curated show, which will take place at Shoreditch Weatherspoons."

The year is 2065. There is an Urban Art retrospective..., by Deleted on Mar 3, 2015 15:20:50 GMT 1, I'm not sure todays street art will have much relevance in 50 years.
It's just gallery sales and organised legal murals painted on walls, that has attatched itself like some big fat parasite to to the illegal tagging, bombing and graffitie on tube trains, and walls and marketed itself cleverly as street art when it's just very well organised and promoted.
It will be seen as a twist on urban expressionism and as for Basquiet and street art, he is only famous for latching onto Warhol and making art that was so bad it was promoted as good.
Anything sells these days and a lot is just crap.

The year is 2065. There is an Urban Art retrospective..., by Deleted on Mar 3, 2015 22:09:30 GMT 1, Ploppi the rise of the Plops
The year is 2065 and print sellers rule the art world.
Creating poverty and destruction wherever they flip.
Flippernators are bots both virtual and real created by Megacorp Print corp ruled by the evil Lizardrides and his cohorts.
The urban landscape and cities have been destroyed by BankRobo bots who rip out all real art from buildings walls to store in the gated protected Megagallery city.
The rebel army has been driven underground and led by their brave leader Ploppi they wage a bloody and oily guerilla war against Mega Corp by painting invisible graffiti in the Streets.
One by one the Flipper bots are destroyed and as a tribute a retrospective of Ploppi invisible street art which Ploppi pioneered more than fifty years ago is held.
Invisible street art, you can't see it but Ploppi knows it's there.
Thank you Ploppi, you saved art a new dawn arrived.

The year is 2065. There is an Urban Art retrospective..., by stvro22 on Mar 4, 2015 0:53:01 GMT 1, While these posts are entertaining the truth is we really never know who will emerge as those who will go down in history. Many of those that are already remembered were once laughed at. That's the beauty if time.

Honestly, even with art, the retrospective view tends to be "whoever is most widely known" = "whoever is viewed as being creative pioneers of the era." I am absolutely not saying this is a good thing, at all. Quality matters to a point (no Pollack argument, please), but really we know how this works. Best guess as to others who will join is whoever else makes the foray into the mainstream high-art crowd appeal first (basically whoever the high-art crowd embrace next as one of their own).
Damien Hirst and Jeff Koons will be remembered forever, yet we all know more talented artists that won't.
The way she goes.

The year is 2065. There is an Urban Art retrospective..., by dazarino on Mar 4, 2015 10:54:23 GMT 1, So right now, I have alot of our much beloved forum artists on the wall and to be honest the only real piece where a few of my friends recognise the work is my roa rabbit piece. Nearly all of my family and friends are not collectors at all but a good few know his work from the street
I'm talking about folks from London,Spain, and family from the usa,so I will add roa to the list.

If so then the usual overrated stuff will be included while others will be ignored.
Banksy made his mark but his social commentary and street art is very safe.
Obey says nothing apart from buy Obey.
Mr Brainwash is more a primitive artist than any other genre.
