Banksy Dumbo Print and Video, by Aza on Mar 11, 2015 18:38:35 GMT 1, If this 'VIP' list is friends and family, and if they were sold for 25-35K...Banksy must have very rich friends and family.
It's all speculation. He may have given some to friends and family for free, and then sold a few for 30k to rich buyers. Who knows, and who cares? Not me I'm neither Banksy's mate or rich haha.

Banksy Dumbo Print and Video, by Dr Plip on Mar 11, 2015 18:45:29 GMT 1, I can't believe that none of you have the ingenuity, initiative, chutzpah, wherewithal, wit, charm and balls to email Mr B and ask whether he has any APs of this print still available.
I have.
I'll let you know how I get on.
(From my local framer's)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
cackle.
Edit: He said no.

And I speculate that we'll see more of these secret Banksies (?) once a bit of aging has happened and the children start flogging their parents art collections on Flog It or Cash in the Attic.
(For our non-UK cousins, those are two tv shows that film you selling your dead relatives things at auction)

Banksy Dumbo Print and Video, by naughtyshorty on Mar 11, 2015 19:06:21 GMT 1, I'd say so, given the edition size and fact that some standard cyw variations (red) are going for the same price and given he is not Doing prints any more in the first place This makes me laugh. So Banksy should be praised for selling prints to very rich people at under market value. The price point.... 25k or more. Haha that's funny. Hey Banksy I praise you for your cash grab. Thank you!
I think you need to understand two points. 1. Some banksy collectors are wealthy and banksy sells to them. Doesn't make them any less of a collector or banksy any less of an artist with strong ideals. All it means is that they like banksy, and er are wealthy. Drawing any further conclusions is seriously lazy. 2. How do you think he pays for shows like BOTI or Bristol or whatever is next? He has to sell some serious art to fund these things and so he does this by selling to people who can be trusted not to flip. How many of these or love hurts or various APs do u see for sale? How else should he get the money to do this stuff.
You need to get over the price and pow vip factor as if really doesn't change a thing. If it does for you, I'll happpily pick up your banksy prints (with a nice discount to reflect your outrage of course) ;-)

Banksy Dumbo Print and Video, by Deleted on Mar 11, 2015 19:12:27 GMT 1, Update:
I have been send the pdf so if people are interested you can download it here:
( www.banksy.co.uk/secret_pdf/listings/2015/Dumbo.pdf ). Server overload!
For people who visit this forum on a phone and can not view the pdf. :
The print is in an 23 Blue and purple edition. and cost was approx 1.60 GBP but retail is 42.850 GBP for friends and 23.250 GBP for family. Only 3 AP's were printed but all of them were (secretly) inserted in the tubes together with the other Banksy print he just released. Lucky person who finds 2 amazing prints!

Yes,
sell to the rich and give to the poor.
Even though % Wise there are articles which say that the poor give more than the rich to charity.
It doesn't make Banksy less of an artist who he sells or gives his art too.
It does though if someone else not Banksy drew this image.
apart from Walt.

Banksy Dumbo Print and Video, by Deleted on Mar 11, 2015 19:44:26 GMT 1, If Banksy could make his limited editions available for public sale, I bet he would. The CYW was a real low point for this hobby of ours. (In terms of Banksy)
I appreciate the fact that Banksy hasn't done it again. Random online drops are BOT bait these days, so that's out too.
Sell to the rich and pour those funds into projects like Gaza all day long IMO.
While I'd love to have something by Banksy on my wall, I doubt it will ever be anything "official," which is fine.

Something Banksy on my wall, all I can ask for and unfortunately way out off my league at the moment. If he did really want to do something for the average Joe, like you say "he would if he could" he should do a timed release. Sure it would be a couple of thousand prints but he can just have his minions number and sign them. But I don't think it's going to happen, I guess only he knows why he's not selling to us lowlifes anymore..
Dude, low life is not the preferred nomenclature, print monkeys, please....

The stellar secondary prices of his work have nothing to do with him being "street". He's as street as it gets IMO.

That's just it - he probably does not actually make that much money - selling 'art'. (secondary market prices != primary sales prices - unless you're name is... well let's not go there..)
Most of the art he did sell via print towards the 'consumer' end - proceeds went to charity. afaik. (specsavers for eg..)
As for the brizzle show - well that's another story, i'm sure.
Don't forget most street works which end up in auction only get pc if the proceeds are ...a charity !! (moorfields)
I have no doubt his views on the (some) people have probably changed over the years but his idea of getting the message across.. probably hasn't - as we saw the other week.
as for print work - it was over a while back - the last queue was SO close to becoming a dangerous situation - just think if it had got out of hand...
dumbo is a flash - gone.. and we're none the wiser - does anyone care ? ffs not as cool as the penultimate work was it ?
If it does for you, I'll happpily pick up your banksy prints (with a nice discount to reflect your outrage of course) ;-) That's fine. But is Banksy really a 'street artist' for the people anymore? Or is he just a super famous artist how makes a lot of money now. That's just it - he probably does not actually make that much money - selling 'art'. Banksy Dumbo Print and Video, by Deleted on Mar 11, 2015 20:23:44 GMT 1, he could be the wealthiest man in the world for all I care, as long as he keeps doing things like his recent trip to Gaza, I consider him a man of the people
information/attention supersedes wealth

Banksy Dumbo Print and Video, by Rouen Cathedral on Mar 11, 2015 21:14:43 GMT 1, That's fine. But is Banksy really a 'street artist' for the people anymore? Or is he just a super famous artist how makes a lot of money now. Off the top of my head he is the only big name that is exclusively doing "illegal" or non-sanctioned street work. The stellar secondary prices of his work have nothing to do with him being "street". He's as street as it gets IMO.
His work isn't really illegal though right. I mean that's why you put in in quotations right?
I mean what other illegal art work do you see being protected by the government. Haha

Banksy Dumbo Print and Video, by loother on Mar 11, 2015 21:41:23 GMT 1, I don't care if he never makes another print, I just don't understand why he'd keep making prints but not let anyone (more or less) see them or buy them. I understand that he needs to fund his street work, but he'd have made more money selling 250 times as many prints for a hundredth of the price, and he'd have made many more people happy in the process. I think he's a very naughty boy and should go stand in the corner.
