Banksy Flying Copper Print, by craigf on Sept 26, 2010 14:21:57 GMT 1, I think your point is completely valid Adam re value to you and in the right circumstances could get you one. It would depend on lots of factors, but in the past I have been very lucky re getting a couple of pieces below their perceived market value. Normally this has been because I have taken a risk on say an eBay auction when the seller was unclear in description, lacked feedback etc. I will always obviously do whatever I can to mitigate the risk. There are however lots of cases when I have been beaten by a single bid because I valued the piece lower than the ultimate winner, some I kick myself for, but c'est la vie

Banksy Flying Copper Print, by Deleted on Sept 26, 2010 14:35:43 GMT 1, craig, yep. It would be all too easy to splash more money than I am comfortable spending on particular pieces, but, I guard against doing so.
In the rare occasion that I have done it, it has always soiled my enjoyment of the piece once it was on the wall.
Far better to set a price you are comfortable with, to stick with it (reviewing it against market now and again) and to enjoy the thrill of the hunt.
Personally, I enjoy the pictures on my walls far better that way.

Banksy Flying Copper Print, by eddiedangerous on Sept 27, 2010 14:11:24 GMT 1, You think eddie? I hold to my valuation of £1300, which I know is accurate as it's the price I would pay. Doesn't mean I'll get one at that price, but it is honestly how I currently value it.
I didn't realise this was a thread more about the philosophy of values and perceived values more to do with what they are actually going for when they do come up. I respect both Adam and Craigs comments but by Adam's standards I value the Masarati I want at 20k, which is about 50k short of what I could purchase it for, therefore I will never own it. So in answer to the question what are these going for at the moment whcih I believe was the general inquiry originally by Lazarus, I would suggest the following details from expresso beans to be slightly more accurate in terms of what people are prepared to pay (if they actually want to own one that is)
6 month avr value $3769 Avr Price $6428 Lowest Price $3768 Highest Price $8117
All of which suggests that to actually own one of these prints, on the rare occasion they actually come up for sale you would have to part with significantly more than £1400 as there will almost always be someone (me for one) prepared to pay more for the print.
I would give a conservative current estimate of around £2500 in mint condition, not via a gallery.

Banksy Flying Copper Print, by saint on Sept 27, 2010 14:45:11 GMT 1, Yeah i'd say 1400 is a little high personally, i think the last signed i saw sell was 3500, so unsigned, 1200??
Just my opinion of course, i dont have one and don't want one so not trying to lowball you.
EDIT- actually that may have been the flying copper on dickinsons real deal repeated the other week. I think that sold for 3500 sometime last year originally?

I caught that one too. Was pretty surprised to see a Banksy on that show. The frame was pretty awful from what I remember but it went for a bargain price IMO.
