Martha Cooper ๐บ๐ธ Subway Art Book โข New York Graffiti , by 11 on Feb 5, 2016 19:31:56 GMT 1, How's that - I had an inkling she might be at the gallery so had a very brief chat and took the right piss with the show-cards but she was good as gold and an absolute delight to talk to How's the work on the walls looking? - not had a chance to get there yet and haven't seen many pics.
Some really nice pieces - I rattled off a few snaps I'll post later but was chatting to her for so long they had to go and close the gallery - got turfed out

Missed a lot of the Martha talk but what I saw was superb - she was so confident and natural in her delivery it was great and insightful to listen to her talk. Gutted I missed a lot of the early stuff but hey ho.

I managed to hot foot it down to Stolen Space yesterday before we left London for a quick look at the show too which was great - even my 6 year thought it was brilliant. Slightly gutted to be told I'd just missed Martha at the gallery, but it was probably for the best as I'd only have made an idiot of myself speaking to her.

In mid-2017, URBAN NATION will become a unique home for urban contemporary art.
The new museum, funded by the LOTTO-Stiftung Berlin (LOTTO Foundation) is located at Buฬlowstrasse 7 Berlin-Schรถneberg and is based on the motto 'Connect. Create. Care.'
The concept was developed by Museum Director Yasha Young: URBAN NATION stands for exhibitions, debates, research and the promotion of young artists.
The centrepiece of the museum is the growing and already unique URBAN NATION collection, which will be housed at the venue. The basis of the collection is formed by numerous gifts gratefully received by URBAN NATION from national and international artists. The show features work spanning all the way from golden era New York to the current day. Incidentally, Urban Nation are opening an urban contemporary art museum next year in the city.
If anyone's into collecting cans then Montana are releasing a limited edition set of three cans featuring Martha Cooper's classic image of two cops riding a subway train through the Bronx in 1981; if you look above the doors on the right you can see a couple of tags by Revolt, who used to paint with Zephyr.
Thank you again to 11 who was kind enough to get a signed showcard for me from her last show - a true gent.
