New mau mau canvas, by davievegas on Apr 2, 2015 17:17:54 GMT 1, What? So you only bought it to make money ? Name me any other sector where you buy something to hang on your wall and then winge that it's worth less than you paid from a retail shop ?? Jesus this place is going mental ! Reminds me more and more of the sneaker game (I do mean game) I half wrote the same reply, was such an horrible thoughtless thing to say. How about both of you guys actually read the rest of this thread? I stated It was a impulse buy and my wife didn't like it. End of story. Who buys Mau Mau to try and make any type of profit? My point is, I cant even sell it for cost. If I ever fell on hard times, I cant even sell it for what I bought it for no matter how many years down the road. I had no idea that trying to sell at COST was looked down upon lol. Both of you need to take a step back and look at how dumb your comments made you sound. End of story. READ!!!!!!!!

If your referring to when I said "No matter how many years down the road", then yes. I bought it because I liked it. Wife did not. No point in keeping it around to gather dust when someone else can enjoy it. I feel that his work isn't anything special in terms of the long run. I know your not that naive as a collector. You think all these artists will become anything other then what they are? "Artists". No matter how long there career is. The very few become more then that. Just like in college athletics. Only 2% go professional after college in ALL college sports.
The rest blend into the world and become something else. You think the term "Starving Artist" was just made up? You see it in the music industry as well. I do not need to act like I can see any type of future for these artists BUT you can easily see normal artists compared to the ones that stick out. I am tired of people on this board acting like every artist they collect will end up the next "big thing". Just buy it and enjoy it for what it is and thats "Art". If they end up big great!
But when it comes to spending hundreds of dollars on something and my wife does not care for it, then I would hope to at least get my money back since it sold out. Sold out means it was in HUGE demand. All of a sudden it is not and thats not good sign. Common sense tells you that. Its a shame that you are resorting to picking out the one thing you can attempt to argue with me about then what you originally stated because you did not READ the whole thread. Now we are way off topic.

I bought one of the regular edition (dark green) and really like it. The regular editions were fairly small (overall edition was under 50) but I happen to prefer most of the other colours to the one you've got. Personally I'd go for one of the other colours at above cost rather than yours if I was going to buy another. That's just my personal preference though.

Mine was 1/1 which is a original. Which means there was no other color/edition then the one I got in my color. There was 1/1 in other colors as well. Huge demand was def what it was since ALL these pieces were sold out. I did not get an edition of 10. I paid more for this original then going for a less expensive/lower edition. Not sure what your talking about. The Aluminium one was more expensive but was an edition of 4.

No one can predict the future of an artist other than the artists themselves.
''you can easily see normal artists''
You dont have to read the whole thread when you make off the cuff remarks like this. Will a 'normal' artist never change from being 'normal'?
Please say something that'll stop me puking on my own shoes.

''you can easily see normal artists'' You dont have to read the whole thread when you make off the cuff remarks like this. Will a 'normal' artist never change from being 'normal'? Please say something that'll stop me puking on my own shoes. Your saying the artist predicts there own future? You on drugs? Cant predict what people like or dont like. The people who like or love there Art that buy the artists work is what predicts artists future. No ones buying art that is not consistently good or on the popularity rise. No rise on popularity of art equals moving backwards. Your a whiner. Your comical to say that banksys work ever sold below cost. Originals given away? Your brain dead. Id go as far to say he was never sold at cost even. The work is not even close to the same in any logical way.
All I hear from you is garbage and verbal diarrhea. Your butt hurt about what again? You decided to go out of your way to troll my comments. Your logic about artists careers is laughable. Mau mau and banksys work are not comparable in more ways then the common name John Smith. He has inspiring work and was powerful enough to start a movement around the world as he grew as an artist.
His body of work because of how he does art is timeless. Your saying even in Banksys early days, his work resembles mau mau's? Does not take a genius to see the unreal talent Banksy has always had and the confidence buyers had by collecting him. You must not of had the eye for that. Lions on canvases are as original as whatsons scribble on birds noses. Your comment above made you look like a a** hat. Last im speaking on this. Puke all over you shoes and maybe a non bull**it artists will emerge. Thanks
What are you talking about "Mug". Funny Dave, much could have been said about Banksy, I spent years buying his work before you all turned up, most was ignored, and a lot was sold on ebay for below cost just to keep POW open, his canvas traded hands for next to nothing. No one can predict the future of an artist other than the artists themselves. Thanks

New mau mau canvas, by thomasmer on Apr 3, 2015 13:13:18 GMT 1, Davey, you have no idea how far from the truth you really are. Pity you know nothing of the scene or the artists involved in it other than what your wife or ebay tell you.

New mau mau canvas, by nullvoid on Apr 15, 2015 4:14:41 GMT 1, Received mine today. I might have received mine a little earlier than most since they were shipped from Thailand and I'm currently in Taiwan. They're well protected as it's encased in styrofoam.
