Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Mentis Statum on Jan 11, 2020 22:14:32 GMT 1, On the prints they are similar values to one another, assuming they are in good condition you can probably get ยฃ8-9.5k via private treaty. Dealers and brokers will probably pay around ยฃ6.5-7k if you need a quick deal. A toxic Mary sold on here recently for just over ยฃ7k but it had been through the wars. You may get over ยฃ10k in an auction if you can get some competitive traction, sellers fees tend to range from 5-10% + a small catalogue fee. I would guess most auction houses would want to guide at between ยฃ9-12k with an ยฃ8-9k reserve. Certain auction houses will give you low ball valuations to guarantee sales and to stimulate interest, this is not always a bad tactic. Not sure on Bristol posters, is one of them the Devolved Parliament? Those have been getting some pretty big prices with good provenance.
Thank you so much this is so helpful Sadly never thought would have to sell. Had a baby- needed an extension on the house- gone over budget. Will try sell on here first as rather a true fan gets rather then a flipper ๐

Iโm sure plenty of collectors on here would appreciate the opportunity.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by aki on Jan 11, 2020 23:32:07 GMT 1, It depends on what you have, if you need a guaranteed sale and arenโt confident on your values then auction is your best route, although buyers and seller can pay around 40% of fees between them. Christies and Sothebyโs tend to get the best prices, Forum and Phillips are also achieving some strong results. I work with Forum quite a bit purely because I find the staff friendly and helpful. What are you looking to sell? Thank you so much! I have collected for years but never looked at selling before so feel so out of the loop. Iโve got a unsigned toxic Mary with pest control Unsigned I fought the law also with pest control And got all 4 Bristol show posters Anyone got any idea of value?
Maryโs increased quite a bit recently , so mint would be upwards of ยฃ10k one went at auction for 14. IFTL maybe ยฃ8k if your lucky . I sold one I while ago for ยฃ6k

Amazing great to have rough idea of prices either one would help with the bills. Last time I sold something on the forum was one of my dolks for ยฃ200 which I had no idea was worth so much more ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ Hence the asking around first.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by casual on Jan 15, 2020 11:41:03 GMT 1, Morning gents, Not valuation specific but as most users that post in this thread seem to actually own a Banksy piece I was hoping to answer some questions regarding insuring valuable pieces? Iโm lucky enough to be waiting on delivery from the GDP Met Ball and want to make sure itโs fully covered.
So... Are there any insurance companies that you would suggest specifically? Given that this item isnโt a conventional print. Do insurers require the COA before cover, obviously thereโs a two year gap inbetween receiving the item & then the COA so wasnโt sure on cover during that period? Do insurers typically require a valuation before insuring? If so does this have to be in writing from a dealer/broker?
Very new to all this but just want to be extra cautious as Iโve been waiting years to own a signed Banksy. Any tips/suggestions would be handy! Cheers

Congratulations on your purchase.
Hiscox are the industry leader and can give you a quote for cover based on your description, provenance and potential value. I assume a Met Ball is classed as a sculpture or statue. Don't think they'll need a COA to insure you but would want to see it if they have to pay out (or the paperwork in lieu of a COA).
Give them a call and get advice because what you have is likely worth tens of thousands of pounds: 0808 2568 121

Thanks for the detailed reply Reg, Iโve definitely heard of Hiscox so thatโs a good starting point. Obviously Iโm sitting tight till itโs in hand (Iโm still struggling to believe it to be real until that day haha) but will make a call as & when it arrives. I thought it would fall under a sculpture too, although itโs obviously a pretty random item in its normal form so Iโll see what category it falls in under their policy I guess. Appreciate the help mate, genuinely.

Appreciate the help mate, genuinely. No probs. Only got experience of signed prints and know that 1) your house insurance will not get close to it and have limits (some up to general value, others you have to list the piece and valuation) and 2) you have arrived at a place where a Bansky will be a liability and something you have to spend money on and worry about. A bit like having a child but the difference being you can get rid for ยฃ100k.
Plenty of better advice here: urbanartassociation.com/board/237/art-insurance

I owned a Nola that the framer swore up and down he used archival materials for the mat, etc. Ten years later when I went to sell it there was some mat burn on the work.
I took it to a paper restorer to assess the work and come up with a cost to repair. Then took all of it to an appraiser who assessed the total value of the damage (not just assumed that the value of the damage was the cost of the restoration). I received a check for the value of the damage in less than a month.
No fighting, no debating. Received the check, kept the work.
Highly highly HIGHLY recommend Chubb. They will require an appraisal though.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by thecoolest on Jan 22, 2020 17:31:17 GMT 1, Hi. New here.
My friend was lucky enough to be win a Banksquiat (grey print, I believe) from the GDP store and was looking to possibly sell it. I figured that this forum would be a goof place to get an accurate valuation on the piece.
What would he get if he sold it now without COA? Sold it now with a COA from a 3rd party? Sold it in 2 years with an official COA?
I told him that he probably should wait, but he is probably going to sell if the value doesnโt drastically increase.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by irl1 on Jan 22, 2020 17:51:56 GMT 1, Hi. Not thecoolest place to ask for a valuation on a GDP piece but you will get goof answers to them

No. Unlike most people on this forum Iโm not hear to lie and steal cheap art.
This will be very valuable in a few years.

Why did you join the forum to ask and not your friend who's selling?

Out of interest, other than personal preference for the print, why would you value it almost double compared to the last signed edition of 500, Sale Ends V2?
