Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by artlike on Aug 19, 2024 20:20:45 GMT 1, What would be a realistic price for the Agile ?. Iโve tried contacting some galleries and they have been a bit reluctant with a price estimate. Many thanks The ink is still wet on the APs and remaining Agile prints from the VIP show earlier this year. They were being sold direct for around ยฃ70k give or take. Were there quite a few left over like with some of the other releases at the VIP show?

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Fuzzyduck121 on Sept 20, 2024 9:04:30 GMT 1, Is 17k the lowest hammer for a signed banksy in recent times ?
www.phillips.com/detail/banksy/UK030424/163
Several unsigned hammered at 10k
Rest of the lots like the gold cans seem to hammer around 70% below whatever the maximum hammer was in the past which seems about right
Unsigned balloons seem to be down from 240-250 at the height to 65-75 so again a drop of around 70%
Is that the general rule then ? Take the peak price and reduce by 70% as a guide obviously

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Patrick 01 on Sept 20, 2024 12:35:46 GMT 1, Irrespective of prices achieved itโs good to see people buying again and confidence in Banksyโs market growing. It is evident on here alone that there is renewed interest.

lowest prices ever for almost every work at auction and there is renewed interest
Does anyone here actually speak the truth or just protect their own interests?
I own loads of B works but unless you are a total idiot you can see the market is dead; the odd flurry of interest does not support a market and the trend has certainly not turned
when you actually take inflation and other factors into account and see the drop in prices the market is utterly and totally flat and in real terms has lost 80% or more in most cases
There is a lot of work coming to auction at some big houses this month so that will determine whos right....lets see

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Patrick 01 on Sept 20, 2024 14:07:28 GMT 1, I have stated facts- people are buying again. Out of the guts of 10-12 lots at auction this week there was only one pass which in my opinion was due to the fact the the low estimate was a tad ambitious. Iโm unsure on condition. Dealers and galleries are also starting to sell works which have sat idle until now. I havenโt said that the market is flying again but it looks to be in a better state than it has been for quite a while now.

Things don't quite stack up. The overall market can sense it. Mini bursts of small numbers of buyers isn't a recovering market, it's a market on its knees. The truth is what needs to be heard, then maybe change can happen. Of course the people able to make change have to want to. The truth is step one.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by tonys on Sept 21, 2024 12:08:05 GMT 1, The market is down across all artists, it's not just Banksy.
Whilst interest rates are high, it's much safer to leave the money in the bank than risk on art.

Very few Banksyโs which is good but the ones on offer are actually cool Someone must be on Banksy's naughty list for selling those. Who even knew unique rat clocks existed?! And there can't be many stab vests out there!

And there can't be many stab vests out there! You would think that understandably. There is no naughty list for selling primary work at auction anymore. Historically PC would have closed the door on collectors who chose public sale for primary purchased works like these, in the best interests of the overall market. Either these buyers weren't given any ground rules on public image sharing or resale at the time of purchase or they were directed to auction to resell. PC/B won't be bothered at all. This could be the first time a primary rarity sells for below primary cost. The ed300 rat clocks were 50+vat, gold will have been more. Hopefully it does well for the seller. Its a special piece, 40k lower estimate shouldn't be a problem.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by nick42 on Oct 4, 2024 15:14:00 GMT 1, This is an interesting frame job to say the least. I'm not sure if they removed the original stencil from the magazine or if that is just a copy? Hard to tell. But it looks like they removed the stencil and then added a black outline to it (not sure why), and then encased it in the magazine (original?) bellyband . . . ? Bit odd, but maybe not?

It's a little smaller than the magazine, which may explain the outline - the bellyband fits the magazine dimensions, not the stencil.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by holey warholey on Oct 4, 2024 23:14:06 GMT 1, I have stated facts- people are buying again. It's still in same state, the backbone is broken. Things don't quite stack up. The overall market can sense it. Mini bursts of small numbers of buyers isn't a recovering market, it's a market on its knees. The truth is what needs to be heard, then maybe change can happen. Of course the people able to make change have to want to. The truth is step one. The answer is my previous post - Hanbury St Feb 24
