Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by rebelate on Sept 17, 2015 18:45:16 GMT 1, Certain people, (Mainly art dealers) on this forum, would like to hide the current market value of Banksy's prints for their own financial gain...... This is the real reason as to why some people attack forum users whom dare to ask for current values on their artwork. A small percentage of people are interested to know the current value for no other reason than curiosity, but most are either buying - and don't want to be overcharged - or selling - and don't want to be out of pocket! Who gains from NOT having a true 'sold value' Banksy art database? The complainers ARE the pure investers, not the art lovers........ BOOM! With the ongoing Dismaland show, sellers are 'holding cards close to their chest' and waiting for, or hoping, that prices will shoot up. I've had a few private messages offering prints in reply to my wanted thread, and a high majority are refusing to even give a figure they want and just tell you it's "not enough". I've give examples of recent sales and been told "they must have been uneducated sellers as they were 2012 prices". The forum certainly seems to have gained a lot of newcomers that I'd class as investors rather than collectors of Banksys work. But that's to be expected with the rise in popularity and price of Banksy prints A data base of TRUE sales would be perfect, but it's something that's very easily manipulated and would probably cause more confusion/problems than it solved. I honestly don't think that it would be easily manipulated. The community is rather small. We can gauge how accurate submissions are based off of the seller's or buyer's reputation or following up. It's actually less work than this thread and more organized I think.
The whole "dismaland" excuse is rather beaten to a pulp. It had little or no actual effect on pricing. It wasn't a gallery show/exhibit and from many attendees that I've heard from all stated that it was "cool, but they expected more from banksy". Regardless, to think that prices will skyrocket in value after the close of the show is rather childish. No one can give a good answer to the simple questions of "why?" when told prices are going to go up because of or after Dismaland. It's all hype at the end of the day and even the sellers that pull out mid-negotiation don't buy the hype with excuses like "Oh I think I'm going to hold off at the moment, this dismaland thing is going to raise prices" (Yes literally I got that email back from a member just yesterday).
Sheep I tell ya...

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by rebelate on Sept 17, 2015 18:50:17 GMT 1, If you are paying any of those prices for a grannies, applause or flags I have a bridge to sell you if anyone is interested. Seriously, you took the type right out of my keyboard. LMAO
There are far superior unsigned prints that can be had for way less than those prices posted by @ultraluxuries
A seller was begging me to purchase a mint flag for $2250 USD 2 weeks ago and I passed on it because of the printing issues associated with owning that print.

You're appraisal of Dismaland is far from my experience. And, it seems from reading the first hand experiences of those attending in the thread on here, far from many other peoples' experiences too. And it was in part a gallery show. There was a huge gallery there. It only had a few pieces by Banksy as this was always a show that was curated by him. This, now, is not directed at you rebelate, but is something of a general moan, or even a mini rant! I honestly couldn't give two hoots whether the value of prints have been affected by the show. I suppose what I'm concerned about is the incessant concentration on prices/values/investment that is taking over this forum. The move from celebrating street art, shows, new work, unknown artists, emerging artists, amateur artists, techniques etc, towards instead constant price checks. It seems that unless something is going to go up in value, it's not worth talking about anymore. And that saddens me.

Thanks lee. I know. But sadly I have always used recent posts (when did that stop being called last 100?!) so I can't avoid it.

Hey coach I don't disagree with you. I'm aware of the gallery show at dismaland and I'm aware it was curated by banksy and not so much an arena to show off his own work...which makes it even more frustrating when people try to pull the "I've changed my mind on selling because dismaland is going to make me rich" card. It just makes me second guess what banksy collectors are all about. I've bought, trades and sold with many collectors over the last 10 years and never have I ran into such difficulty with Bansky sellers. Even when they unframe previously mentioned "mint" prints which have visible damage or tape marks...they act like they own the holy grail and try to increase the price on you in the 11th hour. And now with the self interest hype machine members, it's just become so unappealing. I'm currently just looking to buy a signed Donut with no desire to buy anything else after that because it's literally lost all its fun. I'm not saying all banksy sellers are in this category, but from my experience and many others on this forum, it's definitely the majority. It's a real shame.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Dr Plip on Sept 17, 2015 20:52:54 GMT 1, Do you ever think that price checks and talking about the current value of prints will only really create hype and may increase demand, which in turn will raise prices. Perhaps if we don't talk about print prices, people will decide on their own price, that they're happy with, without the added pressure of hype and peer pressure?

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Deleted on Sept 17, 2015 21:49:27 GMT 1, Do you ever think that price checks and talking about the current value of prints will only really create hype and may increase demand, which in turn will raise prices. Perhaps if we don't talk about print prices, people will decide on their own price, that they're happy with, without the added pressure of hype and peer pressure?
Whoa, Thats deep dude, real deep
Do you think the tabloid press are getting a good kicking at the moment? I think the tide is turning. oooh

Whoa, Thats deep dude, real deep Do you think the tabloid press are getting a good kicking at the moment? I think the tide is turning. oooh They deserve a good kicking. All of my friends seem to definitely be waking up to the reality that the mainstream media (now sadly starting to include the BBC) are all garbage-filled, pedlars of hate. And with regard to Jeremy Corbyn, I've noticed that the more the press attack him, the more people lose respect for the press. Could be a good sign.
One good winter and a lot of the Daily Mail's readership will drop off, then what are they going to do? And The Sun can't rely on tit-loving builders forever. Not when you can get better garbage online.
I'd love to think that the days of the tabloid are numbered. I think it all comes down to the internet. As more people get online, the passing of information will become easier and this should hopefully tackle the disinformation and lies of the government and press. People will (hopefully) become more educated, less insular, less fearful, and ultimately be able to make better informed decisions regarding their, and their government's actions.
People can buy a copy of The Sun (for example), read the cover story, get angry, go online, and within 30 seconds find out that the whole story is bulls**t. It's an instant thing. You don't have to wait days for a tiny apology or retraction from a paper. Everyone needs to be online, but they also need to be aware of how the media and government is, and will be, attempting to manipulate what you see, read and hear online. We do this by passing information. And that can be online, or it can be with something as low-tech as a paste-up or a bit of graffiti on a wall.
(I actually think that, as great as the internet is, in this increasingly hi-tech world, there's still a place, probably more than ever, for some low-tech freedom of speech and passing of knowledge)

Papers will always be here ... do you remember when they said Books would disappear, because of the internet, but actually sales have increased as people are able to talk/review them on line.
Papers are and always will be a great political tool both for the Left and Right Wing and everything else in between. By its nature it can easily picked up and read and left for the next person. If you travel into and out if London each day - the Metro and the Even. Standard are given out free by their tens of thousands.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Dr Plip on Sept 17, 2015 23:17:53 GMT 1, You're right, I remember back when the internet was young and folk were talking about books and papers becoming obsolete, instead, books are as popular as ever. Mainly due to Harry Potter, Twilight and the 50 Shades series, but a book's a book.
I think papers will still be around for awhile, but they can't last forever can they? It just seems so archaic to cut down trees and use vans to drive daily papers to newsagents and train stations. Can't digital content be sold for much less than physically printed type? Can't the metro be zapped (for free) to your internet enabled device or something every time you get on a train or bus?
And I guess even if people do still read papers, if they're fortunate enough to be online and educated enough to see through the fog of mediaspeak, then they can have the papers, without being overly influenced by them? I dunno? I just know that, in my family and circle of friends, it's the oldies that buy the papers. The rest get their information, both useful and rubbish, from the internet. And that includes paper sites, but also social networking.
I think we can probably get way with the press still churning out papers, just as long as the people can freely exchange their opinions and ideas.

Search the forum, plenty discussion on it. I personally have bought numerous Banksys, a cranio original, pure evil remarked olympic rings successfully but others have different stories to tell. All of my purchases have been first class and all Banksy change of ownership transactions with PC troublefree, Newartonline responded to PC email request to confirm sale details ASAP.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by rebelate on Sept 21, 2015 19:24:36 GMT 1, Please see below and make your own decision. To be fair, many have successfully bought from Newart/gioronawatch. The issue just unravelled after I made my first post below. With stories involving multiple accounts bidding down sellers and bidding up buyers, bullying, personal threats, and multiple forum violations.

Totally agree, and still a great value signed piece with a great image. Yes, I own one. But it's true

Item number 321850953936 on ebay. Didn't sell for buy it now. Sold for $12,000 USD locally. I had an offer in at 11K but got beat out by the $12K. Not my favorite image so didn't want to raise my offer.
GLWS.
