Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by davedandconfused on Sept 30, 2015 14:27:28 GMT 1, Would appreciate ideas on price for private sale of the following Banksy prints, all with C.O.A.
Signed Colour Trolleys, original owner, always flat, nice round number if that's ya thing
Signed Chocolate Donut, original owner, always flat.
Unsigned Silver Flag, I'd say as minty as they come these days, couple of VERY slight edge knocks, no scratches or any marks to printed area.
Unsigned Love Rat, always flat, bought from an old skool forum member, I trust this one more than the ones I bought from P.O.W.

Really?
its getting a bit farcical now
Are there unsigned prints from any other artist, living or dead that go or this amount of money?

Well a better way to look at it is "Are there any other artists live or dead that have done anything close to what Banksy has done?" I am not saying other huge names have not made huge impacts but obviously not in the way banky has and still is doing. Let's not also forget he is the only artist in history to have released absolutely zero publically in what has been arguably his most impactful and popular 5 years of his career to date. That fact alone puts him in a category all on his own in art history.

Im sure certain galleries have told you that, surprised they didnt say they sell them for higher. I think it unlikely they'd tell any of us potential buyers what they are actually shifting them for.

It's all so underhand and deceitful
they sound like double glazing salesmen

They need to earn a crust just like used car salesmen or indeed double glazing salesmen.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Poster Bob on Oct 2, 2015 0:15:43 GMT 1, Most likely. I'd love to sell privately but I can't be bothered with wasting my time receiving insulting offers and a million questions. It's a lot easier to meet up with someone who won't bullshit you, show them the print and take home cash.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by rebelate on Oct 2, 2015 2:49:33 GMT 1, I was at the Julien's auction last night and well, after seeing first hand what kind of people are buying banksys/bidding each other up and in turn how members on here are quoting hammer prices and how it effects asking prices on these forums... It's definitely a case of the blind leading the blind.
After last night, I can clearly state that auction prices hold absolutely zero weight with me now. It would be impossible for anyone "in the know" to deny it if they were present. Before last night, I would foolishly use the auction hammer prices as at least a ceiling, but I know they are purely anomalies.
It has absolutely nothing to do with supply and demand. It has absolutely nothing to do with past sales, edition numbers, imagery, signed or unsigned, archival or dry mounted, damaged or undamaged...it literally has to do with people who you will never see at Dismaland or an actual Banksy exhibit, going to a venue which they think is the only way to buy art, and measuring their dicks, or in yesterday's case, their tits.
For me to think that any of those buyers from Julien's auction last night having any effect on the market price of Banksy art makes the idea of me owning Banksy works very unattractive. I'm sure other auctions are no different.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by Deleted on Oct 2, 2015 3:16:01 GMT 1, I just think art is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it at that particular time. But I agree it's the same in every type of market, if someone wants something so bad in the moment, then he/she will pay whatever they think is the appropriate selling price.

But I agree it's the same in every type of market, if someone wants something so bad in the moment, then he/she will pay whatever they think is the appropriate selling price. Sorry but the people you saw yesterday didn't have the knowledge to decide what the appropriate selling price is... lol This is proven by the price paid for a damaged FC and dry mounted IFTL. They call it "stupid money" for a reason. You think that woman or the dude in the front row knew what they were doing or had any knowledge of what the "appropriate price" is for any of the works they bought? And now for forum members to throw around those figures as a benchmark for potential purchases/sales? I'm still in shock as to what I witnessed and like I said I have now drastically changed my views on how I value the banksy market.

People pay whatever they want and they don't care if it's way overpriced. But art fluctuates too so it may come back to reality price in time and that's what people have to wait for or if they really want something NOW they'll have to pay because of what's happening in the market right now. Galleries will "increase" their asking prices because of it and it's a trickle down effect. I'm with you rebelate on this one but it is what it is.

Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by lee3 on Oct 2, 2015 4:16:17 GMT 1, Rebelate, I'm surprised you feel that house is representative of anything in the art world apart from the shady underbelly. I'd caution you further to draw any conclusions from attending apart from maybe it's best never to return. Any house that preys upon its customers by selling them works that are difficult-at-best to sell later on is in this pursuit for all the wrong reasons and anything but a friend.
