Its almost as if they don't want to win? as if they picked him knowing he would be unpopular as a PM.

The Labour party is more than just Miliband though.
If Labour suffers a heavy defeat then Miliband will be booted out and they will find some other person a new Blair.
The Labour party did more damage to the UK than Thatcher the milk snatcher ever did.

UK Election 2015 and Political Art, by klyde on May 2, 2015 17:37:55 GMT 1, Looking forward to voting SNP.
I really dont want to come accross as patronising, however unless you know Scotland well im guessing you really dont get whats happened here. Its changed.
The vile threats and outright lies from the Westminster machine for a full 2 years pre indy vote will never be forgotten. Thats why "Scottish" Labour are being punished (according to the polls)
Gordon Brown popping up to scare pensioners, with full live BBC coverage, talk of the vow which was complete bollocks and the fact they worked hand in hand with the Tories has killed them here.
The utterly fake love bombing campaign in the final week, begging Scotland to stay within the union was sickening. More so now as Westminster have reverted back to default "SNP BAD" mode.
Last September Scotland was told, vote No and you will have a bigger say, more powers, you are a valued member of the UK, we love you blah blah fucking blah.
Now its, "if you dare to vote for a party we dont like, we wont work with you under any circumstances, even if you (as some polls have sugested) choose 59 SNP mps out of a possible 59 Scottish mps, we wont listen to anything you have to say. Get back in your box Scotland. And your keeping the WMDs."
Camerons constant claims that the SNP dont want the UK to suceed or even exist, Cleggs constant claims Salmond, (retired leader who might not even win his seat) is the same as Farrage and to be feared, Millibands claim he would rather have a Tory government than work with the SNP, its all stacking up frankly........
Some might find this site interesting, might not, its just the internet
bellacaledonia.org.uk/
Also this was the best way to handle the 100 or so Labour MPS sent from London for a love bombing photo op in Glasgow last September. These days Milliband cant do a walk around anywhere in Scotland.
Also Alex Thomson from ch 4 seems to be the only UK wide reporter actually reporting stuff. The BBC in Scotland dont bother.

UK Election 2015 and Political Art, by Deleted on May 2, 2015 19:58:47 GMT 1, What % of the UK national debt would Scotland adopt and how would they service that? What currency would they use, they would not be able to use the GBP right? The economics of independence don't stack up - thanks to a Scot, Mr Gordon Brown. He will go down in history as the worst chancellor ever.

The currency would be the ยฃ. Any country can use any currency it wants. It was a complete non issue.
The debt would of been a percentage, logically, on population. As would the split of assets.
If the economics of Scotland dont stack up, please explain how do similar sized countries exist? Denmark, Norway has a $900b oil fund!
The UK is the ony oil producing nation on the planet with no such oil fund! Utter farce.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_sovereign_wealth_funds
UK debt is currently ยฃ1.4 trillion. Yet apparently were doing great!
Its all covered here -
www.gov.scot/resource/0043/00439021.pdf
Anyway this election has zero to do with idependence.
The reason the Tories claim it is, is to destroy Labour in England, and the reason Labour claim it is in Scotland, is to scare the 55% of voters that opted for the NO vote.

He may well have been an egomaniacal, flawed man in terms of his leadership ambitions, his feud with Blair and his desperate attempts to cling to power but as a chancellor he was formidable - he squeezed the pips out of the big mobile networks to the tune of 22 billion for the 3g licences, he made the bank of England independent, he presided over the longest period of economic expansion this country has ever seen, he helped keep unemployment at their lowest levels in 30 years, and mainly his 5 economic tests kept Britain out of the euro at a time when the eurozone was going into recession. So stand alongside Jeremy clarkson if you want to deride him for his funny eye, or his crap handwriting, or his social awkwardness, or his love of the Arctic monkeys (oh yeah Gordon - sure), but his record as chancellor, really?

UK Election 2015 and Political Art, by achtungbono on May 2, 2015 22:21:54 GMT 1, I can think of 3 worse chancellors off the top of my head- and thats being apolitical
anyway, its intersting about the Oil issue and lack of an oil fund- It would be unfair to compare the Uk with Norway as an opening gambit, totally different setup, but...one of the key issues with the proceeds of the 70s+ oil revenues was how it propelled the UK into an OPEC participant, teh subsequent capital generation slowly twisting the knife in the heart of british manufacturing, who were unable to export or compete with the rest of the world. This is key to the unbalanced nature of the UK economy & its dependence on flighty opportunistic fluff industries such as Banking
Aa a cash generator, it was fantastic and a dream come teue for the opportunistic , but the lack of planning as to how these riches should have been viewed as proceeds from critical assets, having some benefit retained & spent on funding capital assets say infrastructure, still haunts us all to this day in pretty much everything we touch. Oil moeny was piped out of the country quicker than the oil itself. Shitty roads ? crap and expsnsive transport ? Housing shortage and prices ? blame the squandering of the oil revenues over the past 40 years

I agree about Thatcher and that she devastated the working class.
The and also British Leyland was to break the unions.
Labour when they got into power didn't exactly reverse any policies and also covered up thousands of crimes and screwed over plenty.
Wales also got devatsted by Thatcher the puppet and her businessman Denis and others did very well from her. She was a puppet just as Blair just as Miliband just as they all are.
It was Blair who first proposed leaving europe by the way.

I heard they can still use sterling as any country can adopt any currency they like.
Don't the banks own all the currency anyway ?
Is the national debt just a myth?
What i no country pays it back?

UK Election 2015 and Political Art, by Deleted on May 3, 2015 6:24:11 GMT 1, As the Euro is proving, conceptually any countries can use any currency they want but unless their economies are broadly similar it doesn't work. The document referenced by Klyde was originated by proponents of the 'yes' vote in Scotland and within that it was proposed that national debt was shared but the actual mechanics of that were not agreed, I see that as a major issue really and just to assume that an independent Scotland could dictate terms is some leap of faith.
They could go anywhere they wanted to raise any contribution but it would be interesting to see what yield Scottish Government Bonds would return, if they defaulted on the (however agreed) proportion of their national debt then they would need to start again and that's expensive.
Gordon Brown mis-handled the gold sale, demonstrating financial incompetence rivaled only by Norman Lamont's attempts to prop up the pound by increasing interest rates and trying to take on every foreign exchange trader in the world and losing. Sure, he presided over a period of growth and relatively full employment but as they said when they left office there's no money left, shouldn't there have been a surplus at that time?
His handing over of control of interest rate policy to the BOE was a masterstroke, his failure to prevent excessive risk taking by Bank's led to, where we know it did. John Paulson saw that coming....
We have concluded that Labour and SNP are attempting to destroy one another in Scotland and the Tory's are comfortable with the concept of that? So Farage is going to be the most influential person in British politics within a few days?

UK Election 2015 and Political Art, by My Name is Frank on May 3, 2015 10:50:33 GMT 1, Living in a safe seat constituency is boring, I could vote for anyone, but the result will be the same. I am actively thinking of moving to a swing seat constituency so that next time it might actually be important for me to engage more in the process.
Friday am, Greenwich & Woolwich will return a Labour MP, they know it, I've had knocks at the door and leaflets from tusc, cons, lib dems & greens, nothing whatsoever from Labour, safe seats suck.

UK Election 2015 and Political Art, by jonnyx on May 3, 2015 11:46:40 GMT 1, On the other hand I live in one of the so-called 50for15 seats I've had one Tory leaflet through the door and zero green, libdem, ukip or any other party, 4 or 5 labour leaflets, a handwritten note from the labour candidate, she's been up the street once (to my knowledge) and the prospective labour councillors have been round with a petition a couple of times - to be fair to them they're round two or three times a year, not just at election time. If the Tories think they're gonna win this seat through complacency I think (hope) they're much mistaken.

UK Election 2015 and Political Art, by Deleted on May 3, 2015 13:19:20 GMT 1, I would support any party that got rid of religion being used for favouritism or to try to impose racism hiding behind religion.
Where trying to impose religion in public including schools would be illegal.
Simply because we have had year and years of religious this and religious that rhetoric interfering in politics.
Also I'd support any party that treated everyone equally regradless of their race or origin.
People who live in the UK have no excuse for not speaking English within three years and also jobs should go to the most qualified.
That would work all ways.
Britain and England is divided and communities divided more and more each year and some are profiting from this and making millions.
MP's or people who stand for election should actually live in the constituency that they want to be an MP in for at least three years.
Donations to political parties should be capped at a maximum of ยฃ1,000.
Career politics should end and two terms should be the maximum for any politician in government or not.
I'm sure people on the forum could put together a political manifesto that makes more sense than the main parties.
Scotland could hold the trump card in this election if for example the other parties Liberals UKIP Greens get more votes than they expected and decide to team up.
and for undecided voters there is only one party to vote for.

UK Election 2015 and Political Art, by achtungbono on May 3, 2015 14:26:40 GMT 1, As the Euro is proving, conceptually any countries can use any currency they want but unless their economies are broadly similar it doesn't work. So Farage is going to be the most influential person in British politics within a few days?
edited. not worthwhile

Interesting. 45% right wing/ extreme right wing beliefs on a forum which despite all the flim-flam of being about street art and culture is at its heart about the worship of Mammon in the form of 50x70 cm bits of paper. "Just protecting my investment mush" - we're all small businessmen now!

I only wish I had planned my future a little bit better in old age so I could escape this country. It's not going to get any better if they get in again.
I want the right to vote 'none of the above', I don't trust any of them. Least of all waxy looking middle class men that look like processed ham in suits.
