If the instagram pic is indeed prep for a workshop he's doing then he should be applauded regardless, not self-entitled whinging from the culture squad.

Another new Whatson print ? , by Deleted on Apr 9, 2015 19:51:52 GMT 1, Seems to be an increasing number of galleries located in the suburbs that are picking up stuff like Whatson, framing it up and punting it out to the casual buyer at a nice mark up. Us forum folk are not the only buyers. Given places like WhiteWalls galleries do a roaring trade, you can see how easy it is for these other independent galleries to sell on Framed Whatsons, Pure Evils etc for ยฃ600 a pop That makes good business sense.
I agree that Whatsons prints are ideal for these type of galleries to re sell framed.

Another new Whatson print ? , by Deleted on Apr 10, 2015 7:53:18 GMT 1, I liked & wanted the Toucan, have a perfect spot for it. I was on there early and constantly refreshing, the second it came online , I clicked to add to basket it and it was gone. 1min after going up. Foolishly I went on Ebay to compound my misery and see the 5 that were already up for sale, 10mins after it had Sold Out. sigggggh. So people bought to flip and listed them on eBay before even recieving the prints.
That is what a lot of these releases are about. "money"
I doub't the rhetoric that a lot of artists use in their releases that they don't like flippers and are against flipping.
Sure they are.
They are in it purely for the money hence churning out this flippable stuff and they need these flippers which help with their sales of their prints.
Nah, only Bankers are solely in it for the money, direct your ire where it's deserved.

If the instagram pic is indeed prep for a workshop he's doing then he should be applauded regardless, not self-entitled whinging from the culture squad. Well said, it's for a charity project in the Middle East.

Another new Whatson print ? , by Graffiti Prints on Apr 10, 2015 9:18:12 GMT 1, Hey
Graffitiprints was born on the back of the market at the time selling very easy to make screen prints 3-5 colours for ยฃ150-ยฃ500!
I wanted to go back to making very fine products as I did in my earlier years of fashion till it went super price pointed
Who else offers 15-70 colour screen prints for ยฃ150-ยฃ250?
If I was in London my prices would be double, we continue to try and sell all our prints at fair prices
I love making screen prints for artists, I except there not for everyone and people may not like the image etc although some protest to much ESP when my friend whatson
Like nuart said he's been at it a long time and I trust his judgment, he's a pleasure to work with and have over at my house, all artists stay at my house eat with us etc.
It really is a family thing here you don't see me helping artists buy out there editions paying upfront and using the money I have made to help others not so successful
I even make prints for others that I don't sell as favours.
I not a manager they tell me what to do not the other way round
It's been a crazy non stop journey for us but I took stock over Xmas where the company is now and where we want to go
We do shows all over the world and continue at every point to invest back into the artists we work with
I was caught out by outis and get that thrown in my face all the time when we had nothing to do with it
We don't hype anything ever I think our marketing is lacking in many ways so I don't get the hype comments
I laugh hard when I hear us compared to Simon cowell we are so the opposite it's unreal
I love this business and we are trying to up the quality more experiment with other artists and continue to push the boundaries of print making
We have a vintage linen map we scanned to make a print with free hand spray on top, technically hard to make and re capture the vintage look
We traced a massive 5 story mural and layered into a 28 colour screen print which we are making right now
It's all about product for us not marketing, seo, fancy website or any hype
I have been a member here from day one and eBay before, I like this place and without it may have not started GP
It has leaned better or for worse towards investment etc over the years as prices have risen
yet if honest the old saying only buy what you like still is the key advice when buying art
We're not a production line were a tiny artisan print company that loves what it does!
I have seen others copy us or do things similar yet no one can get up to our printing standards and use of so any colours as there so hard and expensive to make
We spend months on files, films and paint selections before we make something we rarely just print straight off files
I'm not asking to be loved or anything just trying to explain what the company is about as I think it may have got lost
Check my original statement back here in oct 2012 and I think we have done what we set out to do!

Another new Whatson print ? , by Graffiti Prints on Apr 10, 2015 9:27:13 GMT 1, Our original opening statement
We opening the site and space as a reaction to all the high prices for screen prints and urban art in general. Our goal is to provide very high quality screen prints with lots of layers at great prices and quality originals.
Our printer has over 30 years experience and has already produced lots of very high quality works for top urban artists.
We have 3 prints coming out pre xmas by two well known artists.
one is a 12 colour screen which is looking amazing. We also have stock from two other artists we liked which are a bit different.
We will be building our portfolio of artists up next year and adding more month by month all with very high quality prints at great prices.
The rest of the site consists of secondary work to fill it up so it does not look bare at the beginning but as we add more artists this will disappear and will be replaced artists we are selling as we do not really want to sell secondary work, although we have tried to price all the work fairly not a POA in sight.

Hence my statement we do fly on the low and it's been on purpose
I am not sure or I don't like to expose myself as the face or talk about it.
But after a lot of news paper exposure in Asia I am warming to the idea the we must explain ourselves as things can be seen differently when only retailing online with no interaction

I have no ire to direct.
You have the irksomeness because you heavily promote Whatson yourself at your publicly money granted festival.
Something like 150 thousand euros I heard.
I did ask before how you selected teh artists. How much they are paid and if any of the artists selected for the festivals art or editions are sold by any of the organisers of the festival.
So no ire at all just open ness about the hows and whys of the promotion and selling of street art/ists

You'll love it when the Nuart opens its store then ;-)
Nice "Banker" piece. Has a look of Ed Roth. Interesting that the roots of this culture link back to what you're doing, Von Dutch, Ed Roth, Robert Williams, Juxtapoz etc and eventually on to Graffiti and Street Art. Were you born in the 50's ?

Another new Whatson print ? , by Deleted on Apr 10, 2015 10:33:37 GMT 1, When you say "scene", you mean "Street Art" or its commercial offshoot "Urban Art" ? Sub-Urban Art? I like it ! though I think the Beautiful Losers crew claimed that one.

10 colourways,2 aluminium, 5 originals and some more on a bunch of old shit I found lying around.

Another new Whatson print ? , by Dr Plip on Apr 10, 2015 10:37:28 GMT 1, Anyone can make stencils today with all the computer and photo copy stuff available plus there are companies that make setncils for artists. Whatsons originality seems to be in putting tags on mundane images. Yes? But the tags thing could be his thing. Like Hirst and spots. You don't need to be the first to do it, just the most prolific.
And Whatson's creative output is only limited by the amount of quirky stock images out there in the world. The day he starts taking his own photos as well.......................BOOM!
*mega art explosion*

I like Ed Roth and the old custom street rod outsider guys inc Von Dutch, Barris and also not forgetting Crumb.
I painted a few choppers and dragsters etc and US cars for some outsiders and people on the fringes way back when.
I was born after the 50's and before Banksy.
When Punk was Punk and Kilroy was on bog walls. When political correctness meant a good caning by the head fag at a public school. Although luckily I never went to public school.
The banker is based on a cross between a vulture and a rat.
Also did diffo versions of it on my zazzle store.
Will add some blue and stars and do a version of the EU and that guy Juncker as well.
Have to because these people are trying to make it illegal to criticise politicians while they use public money to promote EU and their marxist propaganda in schools etc.
All the rebels sold out for money.

This made me laugh
Surprised a chinook did not slip through with message like that my youngest stamped and numbered them over two days
Seriously though I tell martin to stop working and let's go home most nights when he is over, he works so hard.
I think it's often missed how hard most of these artists work. When in Penang they were up till 4 or 5 am painting pieces for that show.
Festivals and shows don't just happen and fall into place.
I was saying that to them all that people don't see the behind of things, helpers or anything they only see the supposed massive money everyone is making not any hard work, time or pain.
Whatsons off to Jordan for a charity gig then over to tom @ black book for a show in next few months
He has to cut paint etc for all of that he has no assistants or anything
No were just all money grabbers in some people eyes and no matter what I write, it seems perceptions are hard to change
I think I'm honest and a good person who cares and so do the artists I work with and that what's important to me!
Yeah. That looks like a jokey comment.
