However, respectfully I would say that this doesnโt work particularly well for me. Thereโs so much going on that my eye is constantly drawn away from the print itself. Introducing an additional colour with the mount also seems unnecessary and a bit jarring.
Of course my opinion means nothing, and the most important thing is that you enjoy it, and if your choice of framing makes you enjoy it even more then fair play to you.

I really wanted to add a colored mat to draw more attention to the image in a pretty drab brown room. I tried the different shades of purple and pink but they all came off a little too "Miami Vice" for my tastes so I opted for the blue from the signature and small spot on the top.
The nice thing about mats is they can always be changed without much effort if it doesn't end up working with some other art going on that wall soon!

In a nutshell everything you or your framer did obscures the art, constricts it, makes it look smaller and insignificant. Considering the vibrancy of his colors a mistake easily corrected.
And having just discovered this thread, the earlier SpongeBobs, posted by a framer, rank as one of the worst framing ideas ever.

Probably black due to the color of your frame. Grey doesnโt really work with the colors in the print. Just my 2 cents.
And yeah wow that Spongebob posted earlier looks terrible with that frame. Scary that was posted by a farmer.
