Name my Dog, by Stender on Apr 17, 2015 14:54:20 GMT 1, We chose the dog last night and pick him up tomorrow. Need a name in order to sort out the insurance but can't agree on one so far! I still like Gizmo or Yoda but am the only one. call it Gruff. This thread does not really belong in the Giveaways and Competitions thread unless you are giving a prize? If this changes it can go back in the competitions thread I can't believe you have moved my thread! if you bothered to read the first post before moderating you would see I said I would send a gift to the person if we used the name.
Is there a training course offered for using this forum.

I'm keen to see what name you go with in the end, even if it's not from here
If you have a photo of the little guy that would also be good to see

This has worked with my family. I have 'Boy', 'Girl', 'Cat', 'Dog' and 'Wife'. (Obviously I had to rename Wife by Deed poll as no parent in their right mind would call their daughter 'Wife'.

Name my Dog, by Stender on Apr 19, 2015 10:54:25 GMT 1, Sorry all, been wiping up sh*t and P*ss. We decided on the name Bruno. Not after sacha Baron cohen or Frank or Mars or Giordano or any other Bruno but was one of the few we all liked. Thanks for the suggestions all. Did anyone suggest it on here?

I edited my original post about 5 minutes after he announced the name. Sorry, my bad. It should have the time I edited the post on there.
If he'd chosen a Boxer, I'd have suggested Bruno. Or Tyson. Or Cassius Clay.
Well done Stender on the new addition. The peeing, puking, and pooping stops after a little while. Just enjoy the cuteness.

Name my Dog, by Stender on Apr 19, 2015 13:41:02 GMT 1, Plip, pm me your details and I'll post you something. Choice of "Street Knowledge" by King ADZ book or an AP 1 of 6 of my first screen print in A3 (Mohican Abe) as seen in the amateur section. Might be worth tens of pounds in the future.

Name my Dog, by met on Jul 7, 2015 3:30:24 GMT 1, of those two, I'd go Gizmo. For me, Yoda is too obvious a reference to Starwars. If you're a fan, what about Boba (fett), or Obi (Wan)? My sentiments also, although a similar argument can be made regarding the name Gizmo. It just depends on one's movie references.
If the choice had been restricted to 'mid-70s to mid-80s film characters', I'd have suggested Roy (which has a secondary interest because it also derives from a word traditionally used as a name for canines). Gaff, more obscure and from the same film, could have worked too.
Michel, as in Michel Poiccard, may have offered both a classic French film reference and consistency with the dog's nationality. The main downside would be facing accusations of hipsterdom and trying too hard, a crime often seen in a worse light than murder. That, combined with naming a family member after a murderer (albeit an amiable cop killer), could have been dilemmatic.
In any event, the above is now theoretical.
All hail Bruno. I'm confident he will grow to become a worthy protector and shield for Stender.
