POSE πΊπΈ Jordan Nickel β’ Chicago Graffiti Art , by davievegas on Aug 27, 2016 18:02:44 GMT 1, I passed only because this print was already released and the price was $500 for the HF version edition of 20. Now they release a variant HF version for $600??? Always put off when artists prices go up too fast. Especially for the same image variant. I also would imagine Blot owners are pissed he is coming out with more of the same image . I am a huge Pose fan too.

I agree , I'm happy to have the image, but maybe it was one last go for this style for the fans before his style progresses. Looking at the new stuff it seems very different from blot and his past releases. Can't wait to see what the next print is, I imagine we will get some different images moving forward.

I own the first Blot and am thrilled with the color variant, as it will make for an interesting diptych on my walls. I think he released Blot Magenta as a response to those that missed out on it. Something for people new to his work as well as those familiar who missed this release or own it and wanna hang them together.
And to be fair, Blot Magenta is more printed colors and does combine technical that have been featured in his newer print releases. Not so much a reprint as it is and updated version of a loved/sought after image.
Cannot wait to see what the next releases are.

I dont see the difference and the difference you are referring to wont help the value. I get it, you have to stick up for your investment/reason you purchased it. To each there own.

I agree with you as well. Seems his new direction is the reason for this drop. Unfortunately for me, these landscape prints he is making does not peek my interest at all. I hope his new direction isnt just landscapes etc.

No need to get defensive just because someone disagrees. I think it's fairly common for artists to release variants, different color ways, donut flavors etc.. of established images. In this case the colors are pretty drastically different. The most obvious is that the hands for one are GREEN on the original print. I personally think they each stand on their own and gives those that may have discovered the artist later a shot at a great image. I'm positive you have purchased art without worrying about the investment value ...right??
Disclaimer : I do not own either version of the print so no "investment" padding ;-)

POSE πΊπΈ Jordan Nickel β’ Chicago Graffiti Art , by smokinfish on Aug 27, 2016 22:11:12 GMT 1, Thanks for the head's up! Figured others would wanna know. Plus the new body of work is different (in a good way) from what we've seen from him. Super mature work from an artist whose work is incredible and LSC whose curated fanominal shows the past couple of years (IMO). Where can we preview the new body of work? Thx

Who is defensive? I feel the release of the same image is exactly the problem. There is "editions" for a reason. A person buys the image specifically because they like it or because the collect for a possible investment. I buy what I like and what goes well on my wall.
When you release the same image but say its a "variant" because the colors are different etc, it devalues the original print edition and lessens my interest imo. No one has to agree with me but lets call a spade a spade here. This has been happening more and more with MAJOR complaints. Perfect example is Eelus. He just did it reasontly twice if Im not mistaken. Making the same image as a 3D lenticule.
I personally get pissed off as someone who collects an image with a certain edition and then another same image with a minor change of the color, is released. Cant really sugar coat it. Seems to be a consistent pattern. Its a big worry I have. No one was saying what he likes is wrong but we have to stop lying to ourselves here. Your a big pose collector as well. Not sure how this does not bother you.

Not sure how this does not bother you. Absolutely understand where you are coming from here Dave. You make a fair point and I am likely an outlier here but I personally just really enjoy the image itself. I honestly wouldn't care if they made it an open edition as I am not personally buying for the collectibility factor (although of course I know this would piss a lot of people off and would never happen). I am absolutely a POSE fan but with this example I also appreciate this an an evolution of Pop!nk's ability as printers. I think their prints are really hard to top in terms of quality and it's cool to see a side by side comparison of the 2 images over the years.
In some cases (not all) I really like the color way changes of an image. I would really like to have a set of 3 CYW in various colors for example and for no other reason than I think it would look cool.
But as you said.. To each their own.
Cheers man.

Jay-Z/Sean Carter, Eminem/Marshall Mathers...

Now they release a variant HF version for $600??? Always put off when artists prices go up too fast. Especially for the same image variant. Possibly. The new work is more conceptual in my opinion and more stripped down. Definitely different from the work that we've seen, but still incredible.

POSE πΊπΈ Jordan Nickel β’ Chicago Graffiti Art , by smokinfish on Aug 29, 2016 4:26:33 GMT 1, The work is definitely more stripped down. Looks to me like he his still finding his groove with the new style. I look forward to seeing how it evolves over time. The pricing wasn't too bad either considering they are originals.

Were the majority of pieces already sold? Not sure. I inquired about two pieces, and found only one was available. It seems as though the show is selling quickly.

POSE πΊπΈ Jordan Nickel β’ Chicago Graffiti Art , by andyroo0312 on Aug 31, 2016 11:19:44 GMT 1, Did they close the presale? Carted one yesterday, didn't pull the trigger, went back today and couldn't get in anymore. I guess I'll have to wait till a print drops of his newer body of work.. Yeah it seems that it only allows you in once, ( sorta like the lady next door )..
