I am totally with you on this one, I used to look at this site frequently everyday, I didn't make a great deal of posts but it always made for an entertaining read, it was full of good folks always ready to offer help and advice. I find the good guys are starting to thin out on here and that the enforcement of forum rules are pushing them away, the vast majority of people who use this forum are grown adults with a fine understanding of what is a responsible or moral thing to post, the rules and guardian thing is greatly patronising in my view.

For a while, tensions had been rising and there were lots of comments about negative behaviour, members goading each other and personal abuse - and people called for more mods to calm things down. I guess things came to a head with some members being banned and, in-turn affected a number of other members as, after all, we are (still) all friends on here.

While some felt they were treated unfairly others made a very conscious effort to disrupt the forum for everyone.

I like to think I've always been an active and positive contributor (but know I've had my moments too) so stood back while this was going on. I had the very same sentiments as you and didn't know what to do. I came back to the forum after a few days away and things were still rumbling on - that was when i decided to volunteer as a mod....or guardian.

It wasn't to control things, it was to try and encourage a more positive environment and lead by example, participating and contributing towards rebuilding that community spirit.

I love this place too - and i genuinely want this to become about the love of art again. There have been some unhappy people but there are also many members on here that are still here, and more join every day for the love of art. By pulling together and getting back to what we all enjoy we will stimulate a whole new string of discussions and debates as well as welcoming new members and sharing the pleasure and knowledge with them too

....and who knows, sometimes new members could just so easily be old members coming back to say hello  

I see a bunch of posts from members who are here but haven't posted/contributed for whatever reason. I would suggest that you guys get a bit more involved as this place is only as good as the people that contribute - the more the better.

Its just easier to say nothing.

for me personally it is often easier to express my thoughts using a pic, so this was another one which popped up in my mind, if anybody would ask me about how I feel when I visit this place at the moment

I have no problem with people coming here to read/stay anonymous. I do however think its disingenuous when those people come out of the woodwork and complain about the atmosphere while not contributing to it.
