Chief is decorative fluff. Pfft But I can get the wheelchair one. I really do. I dont follow that it is invariably offensive. I dont want it on my wall, but I can see where it is coming from. I think its quite courageous to both paint & subsequently publish something like this. Art collecting is one area where ( anecdata obvs ) I think disabled folk do get quite involved in - espcially when forums like this and the *others* do allow access to all with a level playing field and a lack of bias that many many niche forums exhibit.Given Dolks Scandi background and distinct Norwegian take on all things grim/taboo/death I genuinely think is a remarkable and brave narrative to market. Heres the new print now buy it or fuck off.
I know that this forum is only one outlet as galleries have been alocated the prints which is a smuch to do as spreading the Dolk brand as being nice and giving people in diffo countries a chance.
The technique is interesting and I don't know if the images is arrived at by did manip and photo stencil or all hand drawn and then cut out.
If it's all hand drawn, it's good and achives a feel of a cheap photo copy.
Which is clever.
If it's done by computer wooter

Kinda reminds me of the Dot Dot Dot "Handgun" in terms of quality, obviously not great or important art by any stretch of the imagination, but would still look awesome as wall decoration. Really wish he would have gone with a different background color though, the red on the canvas one is far superior in my opinion.
By the way, it kinda sucks that three of the best print releases of the year all had to take place within a few weeks of each-other. Would definatly be going for the Chief if I hadn't blown my budget on the POSE a few days ago.

I think only time will tell as to the images and the prints and like any artist is judged when looking back on their career.
Van Gogh was harshly judged but now one of the greats.
I can see Dolk prints standing the test of time in collections.

Last time around, we received our allocation a week after idea and remover were going for $1,200 on eBay. We charged a little more that time around because everyone just wanted to flip it.

Like I said, I have no problem with you. I also have no interest in either of these prints, so I wouldn't be going for them anyhow. I just find it odd, that's all. In past experiences, when different galleries were releasing prints at the same time from the same artist, the price has been the same. For example, when Hush has released prints through Corey Helford Gallery and OneThirty3. But to each their own. And whatever gallery is releasing at 175% of cost should be outed. |

I wouldnt even respond to people that are shouting for others to be outed because they are selling for more then tomorrows release date. You kidding me? This happens every release. Artist sells out and they are worth double on ebay(secondary market). People should thank there lucky stars any gallery is providing Dolk prints at cost with only a $55 upcharge. They should be kissing your hand like a king. People complain more then they change underwear on here. Keep up the good work Acidburn. Great gesture. Also thanks to others galleries doing the same. Finally a non negative outlook when speaking about galleries from me . |
