Again (see borf) I find this pricing odd to say the least here's an artist who's starting in a new direction, just finished his art course and being priced as a lot more than that. (Yes I know it's cyclops but this is the intro to a 'new' cyclops) These images although interesting enough feel very much like the first faltering steps in a direction, I'm interested to see what comes two years down the line if I'm honest, sadly going on these prices by the time this direction bears fruit it's prices will be out of this world. Does that nurture this direction best?

I really don't think these feel like faltering first steps at all.
I honestly think that these look like paintings by someone who has honed his skills to create something quite beautiful. I have no vested interest as I own nothing by Lucas, and these are beyond my means by a long way. But I do think the portraits are quite special.
Granted there are other artists with equal skill. But that takes nothing away from the beauty if these, for me at least.

The first pieces shown in this hyper realist style (from his MA) were exhibited back in December 2012 at the Rove gallery in Hoxton. Running from the 7th to the 21st of December, the show featured works from Priceβs time at the R.C.A. He is among the few to be accepted to the R.C.A. with no prior training.
Lucas continues his exploration of cataloguing ephemera within his work, but this time it appears that the work is all rendered or drawn rather than collaged. Rove Gallery in Hoxton Square play host to this latest collection of works comprised of new oil paintings and carbon / graphite drawings.

Perhaps your not familiar that Lucas has sold his more painterly work for over 3k since 2007 in the early Bonhams Urban art sales.
I either forgot or didn't know his work in last years Bonhams UA sale went for 8k and 15k..
