Accusations are rubbish and disrespectful

The Connor brothers clearly don't paint their own work (and I'm really not a fan think it's all a con) but nobody seems to care.

I am pretty sure that Lucas sees himself and the images he produces or is responsible for as more than just the delivery of a photorealistic image. The fire extinguisher, basketball and badge imagery are not about painting in a photorealist manner but are more about the composition, message and idea. Photorealism is just the platform not the art.

I think you're right, it's not just about the photorealism. But even on Laz's artist page for him, they refer to him as hyperrealist painter, and say he "combines contemporary photo-realism with religious iconography, Renaissance-inspired portraiture and text-based motifs."
I just want to know if he actually paints the work. I'd still appreciate the conceptual aspect if he doesn't, it he's employing ghost painters, it would be nice to know.

I understand and agree that an open approach with respect to these matters is preferable. I am pretty sure he at times uses studio artists. As a huge Faile and Shep fan I am also happy that they do likewise. The idea and the concept is often more important than the delivery.
I would argue that it would be harder to accept that a painting by Lucien Freud was not painted by his hand than the artists that have been highlighted on this thread (Hirst, Koons, Banksy and the list goes on).
In a similar vain I am fascinated and in awe of artists like Hockney who have embraced technology based on the same ethos that art does not always have to be about an artists skill with a paint brush.

Totally agree. I love what Hockney has done with his ipad paintings. His exploration of the new digital medium is something I really appreciate, and seeing how his work has and will continue to evolve within it has made his art that much more engaging for me.

The extra layer of conceit here is the artist is now being credited for an astute piece of political commentary he never made or intended. However, congratulations to his now strangely silent gallery on exploiting a dark day in Western history to shift a few images of other people's hard work.

I read somewhere he uses a "lens based technique" which hyper realist painters sometimes use.
Apparently Hockney in LA portraits stuff way back a long time ago. Used to project the portrait of his sitter onto the canvas to mark out the features and then finish it off freehand. It does give a very good result. His LA portraits are timeless.

Lucas Price ๐ฌ๐ง Cyclops โข Burning Candy Graffiti Crew, by rosac on Dec 1, 2016 13:49:18 GMT 1, I've already said that I don't have any proof of anything, rather that I'm just curious because I've heard the rumors just like it seems a few others have. The only reason I even posted these links is because thomasmer acted like these sorts of places don't exist, when clearly they do. Ok cool, if the rumours you've heard are from a reputable source then im sure alot of collectors on here would like to know more. If not the i think its unfair on the artist and collectors to spread / encourage rumours.
