European Bob ๐ฌ๐ง London Street Artist โข Art For Sale, by European Bob on Jun 18, 2015 21:33:09 GMT 1, A quick progress update after visiting the screen printing studio Paper! how many types of paper are there??? White? Off white? Cold Press? Hot Press? Fabiano? Somerset? Deckled? Straight? So many choices! I simply love the Somerset paper with a deckled edge, float mounted in a white box frame. Could there be anything nicer?
The never ending rainbow of colours! I create several colour mockups on photoshop before speaking with the screen printer to finalise colour choices but it always choosing that perfect hue thats difficult.
Making something unique is always exciting so when I was shown the Diamond Dust I just could not resist! We ordered some outrageous colours that will create some equally outrageously gorgeous pieces!
Oh and before I forget we also managed to get hold of some perspex fluorescent edge glow sheets. Mounted near a light these beauties just POW!!! Im extremely excited to see how they turn out!
The fun begins! Ill be back at the screen printing studio again to update everyone with the progress.

I especially love the way you go about the screen printing! I am not that experienced at it but this is very clever ;-) (Making the films I mean)

Not sure how I missed it previously. Am going through the same trials and tribulations. I use posterazor although it's playing up on my mac. Am on the lookout for an A1 printer. Bob how do you apply the diamond dust? thanks a lot mate. With regards to the diamond dust a layer of varnish is printed and then the diamond dust is applied by hand to the wet varnish.

I don't think a lot of people like to share their processes but I only started using a tutorial from stencil revolution many moons ago so hopefully if my way of working helps anyone else I'd be extremely happy.
I find this way of producing films works extremely well, i originally used this process on my 'life is better in colour' and 'Mickey Mouse' prints and to be honest i was amazed how much of the detail was captured on the screen.

Will be interesting to see what background colour you go for. Sometimes lots of different bright coloured background cheapen a print a bit for me, always quite like just one or two colourways at most.
What about something that stays true to the packaging back in the day. Black or pastel blue?

jayTown You have read my mind and the edition background colour will be a pale blue. We tried to match the cover artwork as best we could but I wish I had the original packaging to work off. We did discuss a black but I felt it was a tad too dark so we will be doing a couple of other unique colours which may/may not work well but in my experience its always the colours you least expect that turn out to be the special ones! I can't actually wait to see the colours myself.
telsin Much appreciated!

After downloading the OSX disk image, double click to mount it if it doesn't mount automatically. You can start the contained PosteRazor application directly by double clicking it or drag it into a location of Your choice.

European Bob ๐ฌ๐ง London Street Artist โข Art For Sale, by European Bob on Jul 13, 2015 20:06:03 GMT 1, Hi guys, Sorry for the lack of updates, Iโve been snowed under and wasnโt able to get back to the screen printing studio as often as I would have liked. Anyhow continuing on from my last postโฆ..
The screens are next coated with a โphoto emulsionโโฆ.
Next the hand sprayed films are laid onto the screen, placed into the โexposure unitโ. The screen/film is vacuumed in place. Light reacts with the emulsion causing everything clear on the film to be burned onto the screen.
Here are some pictures of the completed screens, every small spec of paint has been transferred from the films to the screen. I just love how much detail is captured by using hand sprayed films.
Now the screen printing fun begins. Each layer of ink is hand pulled onto the paper. This process is exactly the same as using stencils and spray paint to hand spray the image. I unfortunately wasnโt able to get pictures of each colour layer being applied but I hope you get the idea.
You always second guess your decisionsโฆ was the image the right choice? did I choose the right background colour? will the overspray be too much? After seeing the image come to life, I am chuffed everything has come out so well! I canโt wait to finally see the completed screen print and show you guys!
Thanks again for following my thread and I hope you enjoyed reading through Cheers Bob
