New Invader Print available, by Hairbland on Jun 16, 2015 17:54:55 GMT 1, I wouldn't say it looks s**t, as that's a very subjective assertion. And I have too much respect for the artist. But this print isn't to my taste I'm afraid. Shame really as I have nothing by Invader amd would quite like to add something one day. In the office I talk so professional with no profanities, I'm like an angel then I let my hair down... I should have said the work is maybe poor. Why talk about the work?
How about the creation?
Lazy and uninspired. Pretty simple critique imho.

No worries - I took your post to be paraphrasing a potential point of view, not necessarily your own! I was responding to that possible point of view, that's all.

New Invader Print available, by davievegas on Jun 16, 2015 19:25:20 GMT 1, I hope he is not trying to go for some sort of 'smoking' market even if he does smoke because smoking is on the decline across the world. US especially more so. Really lazy and uninspired by this. On a side note, by him not selling out quickly, this should help artists realize they cant put ANYTHING out and will sell out. Makes his stronger images worth more as well but that can be subject of opinion. Maybe it does not.

From what I gather, percentage-wise there is a lower figure representing smokers. However, in real terms, the total number of smokers worldwide (and therefore the 'smoking' market you refer to above) has actually been increasing along with the world's population.

I work for a cigarette company. And the production of cigarettes is still on the decline year on year.

My comment related to the number of smokers worldwide — as opposed to, say, the numbers in the UK, in Western Europe or in North America.
Is it your understanding that the aggregate number of smokers across the globe (as a whole, not as a percentage) is decreasing?

Well the number of cigarettes the company produces as a whole is decreasing year on year. And we sell all over the world. Maybe the likes of China may be increasing, but that is all in house production. None of the major manufacturers sell there.

Really? I thought all the majors such as BAT and PM sell in China and in the case of BAT have been doing so for over ten years. Although this is done either under license or in other partnerships, but they are still selling there.
Big tobacco has been waging a relentless campaign in other developing nations and notably in Africa to generate new markets as traditional markets in the west reduce. The tactics in Africa have been unbelievably cynical and have involved the continued selling of single sticks, which breaks their own rules and the frequent selling to those underage. The tobacco giants have huge legal power and wealth, which is often bigger than the entire GDP of the countries they are dealing with and governments seemingly can't challenge like we can in the west.

When i said they don't sell there. I meant on their own. They will have to be under licence, or partnerships. Im sure I got told they can't produce/advertise and sell like they do in Europe etc. . The company I work for is the biggest producer of cigars in the world. But I believe Cuban production is 50/50 with the Cuban government.
I work in the last cigarette factory in the UK, but due to the shrinking markets the company is closing many factories mine included. All production is being transferred to Poland.

As Letiss, lobbying in African countries is big... cigarettes are cheap (1 euro for a packet of 20s) and yet you can buy cig per single stick. These people are very very powerfull
