But , I knew and met Besson with his first movie , about a country after a nuclear war , in B/W : Le Dernier Combat with already Jean Reno ( Leon etc.. ) . A courageous movie made with a few money..,
So the following movies were very disappointing even Dica and his fashioned blue lights..
I was a great friend with Marc Caro ( Caro and Jeunet ) who made Le Bunker of La Dernier Rafale, then Delicatessen etc .. We could not be friend with Caro ( we played at the Gibus nightclub together ) and liking these commercials things as Diva etc..
We were more inde or alternative if you see what I mean.
Besson had already the big head !! Copying US movies. I hate Le Frabd Bkeu too.
Only Nikita and Leon are correct we will say, for fun.

Besson is a clown, doing things the US way and being paid a lot by government for shaddy projects

@ploppi - If you want nice French cinema but not new-genre or avant-gardiste or pseudo-intellectual... then go for Tati's movie or Michel Audiard's movie.

And he you want to be disgust and puke, get "La grande bouffe", a movie about guys doing orgies while eating up to death, hihihi !!! This say, there are lot of Franco-Italian movie produced in the 70s that are worth watching

For dark comedy, "Buffet Froid" is nice... Also movies with "Bertrand Blier" are really fun to watch

I remember that a lot likes that all the Botti stencils or graffs were under Perspex or plexi, as the Tox one and all the English ones !
