BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Deleted on Aug 31, 2015 11:49:49 GMT 1, First shout for an upload of the video ;-) As time goes on can see some funny interactions between the public and the staff , not everyone seems to get the dry humour . Wonder how dismaland would play out if in America Funny you brought that up tab1 - One of the things I noticed about the park was how there was no way in the world something like this would get a permit to be open to the public in the US. The trip hazards alone would prevent it from opening. There were literally dozens of uneven surfaces, drop offs, open water, exposed wires and countless other hazards everywhere with basically no areas off limits no matter how unsafe. The evening I was there they even had an open bonfire which was spitting ash and burning embers everywhere the wind blew and saw many a guests frantically brush them off their clothes several times not to mention the hazard to eyes. For me one of the things that truly added to the "dismal" factor but definitely at the risk of public safety, especially for kids. Not sure who is assuming liability for the park during the event duration but no company in their right mind would insure it in the states. By no means a complaint, just an observation and I think having to bring that venue to "code" would have ruined it.
Normally in Britain, the Health and Safety executive gives the place a visit before permission is granted.
Some Councils are stricter than others.

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by .dappy on Aug 31, 2015 11:56:42 GMT 1, The H&S Executive are not connected with Councils in any way for this type of event, and the HSE would not have visited.
The exhibition will have Public Liability Insurance - it would be a condition of opening to the public. The Organisers will have undertaken their own 'Risk Assesment' and so long as their is nothing illegal, there is no reason for the event not to take place, eg with the many Dismal Helpers/staff around, this helps to get a lot of 'issues'

So it's a lot easier than I thought.
Just comes down to having insurance and fire extinguishers on hand and signs saying beware slippery surface fire exit etc and making sure people don't fall over and impale themselves on Damien Hirsts beach ball exhibit.

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Love Is In The Air on Aug 31, 2015 13:28:24 GMT 1, Hi,
Have two tickets for this Thursday to Dismaland at 9pm but sadly now can't get out of work early enough to get there. In keeping with the spirit of the forum and other Dismaland giveaways thought these would be nice freebie for someone here .
Not sure how tight the security are with ID but at a push I might be able to also email/post someone an old utility bill I guess! Someone here may know if this is needed or if they are not checking IDs???
First person who can definitely make Thursday night and PMs me gets the tickets and hopefully a reason to smile amidst this dismal weather today. Cheers

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by impromento on Aug 31, 2015 13:42:15 GMT 1, New to the forum so thought I'd say hi and mention I'm off to the exhibition tomorrow night. Can't wait!
Looking forward to trying to topple the anvil and win some bling!
Any tips?
Already read about the way to bag some bling and tempted to try the jumping over and pushing the anvil off the stand technique as I don't thing it's yet been tried???
Also hoping to pick some memorabilia up for keeps - But doubt much will be left..
So disappointed to see over 1500 items on eBay as has already been mentioned - so much stuff being flipped
Here's one that's surely just been nicked from the exhibit?
Ebay link removed

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Dr Plip on Aug 31, 2015 13:53:42 GMT 1, Hello. Welcome to the forum.
Firstly, eBay links aren't allowed, so that will vanish in a moment. But yes, it is frustrating to see so many items being flipped, particularly items stolen from the exhibits themselves.
There should be plenty of shirts, hoodies, caps and posters available if you fancy a souvenir. And you might be able to get a balloon if you look young enough or have a child with you.
Take plenty of cash, as entry and all the attractions/games are cash only. Gift shop takes cards though.
Best of luck with the anvil game. If you're not planning to politely ask for clarification of the rules before you try to push it over, you might want to consider attempting that towards the end of your stay in the park. Just in case security ask you to take your anvil and leave.
Enjoy your time there. Oh, and don't shoot at the staff. They're not paid enough for that.

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Dr Plip on Aug 31, 2015 15:02:35 GMT 1, On the anniversary of Princess Diana's death, it's a good reminder to wear your seatbelt when traveling by car (or coach) and don't let paparazzi scumbags chase you through the streets.
And always drive at a sensible speed. Spare the horses.

Not seen a question as good as this on here since the infamous discussions on the best way to preserve a waffle.
