Over the past few months we’ve been working on a new set of prints that take direct inspiration from the six paintings we did for our exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. We liked the idea of creating a portfolio set to mark the occasion and to highlight the essence of each painting. Many of you have asked for prints from the show so we felt this was a great way to push the printmaking side of our practice while creating a series that spoke to the show.
Hence we are releasing the Savage Sacred Young Minds Portfolio series and print set. While creating a custom portfolio set we still wanted to give our collectors the option to get a specific print as the portfolio’s are a smaller edition. So we will make 5 out of the 6 prints available on their own through the FAILE site quarterly, over the course of 2016. The 6th print will only be available as part of the SSYM Portfolio set. The portfolio set comes in a custom linen clamshell portfolio box printed with copper foil deboss on the cover, a colophon page on archival rice paper plus specific provenance. The portfolio will feature all six prints which will be the complete SSYM series. Ships in June 2016. We will give an update to the timing in the Spring to ensure proper delivery as needed.
We are making a limited set of pre-order portfolios available today with a special price as it's the beginning of the set, the SSYM Portfolio will deliver in June 2016. Today is just a portfolio pre-order.

The first print in the series is Night Bender, based off the canvas of the same name. As one of the new images in the show we felt it was a beautiful print to lead the series with. The Night Bender print as purchased on it’s own will deliver by December 20th, barring any FedEx delays.

Well, just, i really Understood Banksy Who said one day, no more prints.
You can't contest that prints is a certain business. ( I don't speak about young painters or graffers who need to sell some art to eat or buy cans )

It is like people saying that Pistols and Rolling Stones, are - were - still at their ages ( and full ok K, living in Little Venice ) subversive ! Well in fact, these artists should as in the punk Rock n' rol mind, instead of living - and earning money ( I bought 4 years ago a book from Rotten/Lydon at mores thna 400 $ , for what ? It's signed of course, but we see in it photos of the guy going fishing the squale in CA, playing golf etc.. ) because a reputation of thieves, punks, gangsters, vandals etc...
Of course, they will never stop, they have a market now. It is what I denunce now, not their earlier career or their beginning... But, I agree, they are artists too.

If the work is of high quality, what's the problem? A true fan should welcome a variety of work available on a regular basis. If regular releases drive down prices, so much the better. |

greedy, The box is worth 2000$ It's fair price IMO. I don't understand why they wrote that there is a special price for E birds on box and after that they had released the box in price 3000$ which is more than one print seperetely. It works when images are really strong but isn't.

But, in reality all but one print in the box are of of an edition of 400, so you'd really have to LOVE all of these works to fork over that kind of $.
Luckily for those of us who love the Patricks, they do a great job of releasing items for their core fans and also deep pocketed collectors.

Upcoming Faile release, by Howard Johnson on Dec 2, 2015 23:21:32 GMT 1, I guess I'm not the only one mixed on this release. On one hand, I love the bold new direction in their images. I know they've done the "torn" style before, but these seem like a natural evolution of their block images and are unique in their size and shape. On the other hand, I kinda wish they would have saved these as their only release this year. Had they forgone the Sweet Sins block print and the two lithographs, I image fans may be a bit more eager to pick up this entire set.
People always baulk at the prices KAWS is able to generate, but for the majority of his career he really understood that releasing very few multiples kept both anticipation and prices high (his back to back pace releases seem to suggest a more robust output going forward). Thus, when he released the Ups and Downs set, he could easily sell out at 25k because up to that point he had only released a handful of other editions, most of which are impossible to find. I guess we cant have our cake and eat it too, I'm thankful that Faile has made their work accessible to most people who want it, but with so many releases its hard to get excited even for an impressive one like this set.

I don't understand why they wrote that there is a special price for E birds on box and after that they had released the box in price 3000$ which is more than one print seperetely. It works when images are really strong but isn't. I am telling this as a fan who has got 2 failes on the wall At the end of day, the market will speak. If they shoe-horned you into buying all or none, I could understand the complaint, but they've given you the option to buy your favorites or buy the lot. It would be nice if there was a volume discount, but I don't think it's worth getting fired up over.

I don't really understand the complaint that an artist releases too much work. If the work is of high quality, what's the problem? A true fan should welcome a variety of work available on a regular basis. If regular releases drive down prices, so much the better.
Imagine Picasso selling day by day all his painting...

Upcoming Faile release, by daveart on Dec 3, 2015 15:15:03 GMT 1, actually pretty impressed if the portfolio sold out this quickly.. i thought it may take a while. my guess is that most FAILE work ends up in the hands of 'people' instead of galleries ? anyone else have thoughts on this.. flipping doesnt usually work for FAILE either as the pricing is pretty spot on the market. So, overall, it seems there is a broad fanbase here and they are willing to pay for these works... pretty cool for FAILE.. and i personally have no problem with them making money to pay their bills. I dont have any idea if they get paid to do things like the museum show or the wheel at times square. those are huge efforts and not without cost.. so, if they have to bank some money now it all seems like fair play to me.

In Their Work they are workaholics, always in the studio working on new projects and always share what they do with fans. Every year they go higher and higher attracting big collectors. They are great to promote their art; true professionals. Although they have now Reached high-level collectors they do not neglect their early supporters. I'm happy for them if the portfolio is already sold out. I will try to buy a couple of these torn prints in the coming releases
