PEZ ๐ซ๐ท Pierre-Yves Riveau โข New Release โข Art For Sale, by Yabadabdo on Mar 12, 2019 18:28:28 GMT 1, No I used a card, got billed by graffiti prints. No refund to the card and the website says my order was fulfilled but I didnโt receive anything. try to reach out to them through instagram, they are usually really good about staying in contact. from their feed it looks like they were traveling to NYC so instagram might be a way to try. I've messaged them twice and had no reply (once through their website and once to Wendy). Might have to try insta too.

there have been variants out as well. One recently popped up on eBay and wondered how many waiting in wings as more prints continue to appear.

Buying a print because itโs popular on a forum isnโt normally the way to go.. Unless of course youโre just after a flip.

But sounds like someone got sucked into forum hype... at least you are not following EB otherwise you'd be stuck with a lot of Mondo posters in your file.

A mono went for ยฃ450 earlier on the bay. I reckon the print market in general is on a downward trend. You could pick up a nice original by a new artist for that sort of money, especially when a print that size would likely cost you ยฃ350+ to get framed on top of that.

You could pick up a nice original by a new artist for that sort of money, especially when a print that size would likely cost you ยฃ350+ to get framed on top of that. I think you might be right re: the print market as a whole moving downwards. I've been collecting prints for a number of years, and ~10 years ago I was paying around $50-100 a print. Now $300 is the norm, $500 doesn't really raise too many eyebrows, and $1000-1500 is scoffed at by some but seen as reasonable by others. I consider certain artists to be in a category of their own (Condo, Kaws, Banksy and some of the other Pace artists) but that group represents the 1%.
I played along for a while, and can cop to spending $1400 on Ultimate Journey because I love the image and the print's quality is on a different level. That said, I didn't go for the second release, and spent that money on an original by an emerging artist who I follow. The 3 last purchases I made were all OG's. In general, I find that I get immeasurably more joy from the originals than the prints. Being able to see the brushstrokes and the technique makes for an entirely different experience. I'm always discovering new details in the originals that I own, whereas this doesn't happen nearly as often with the prints. Not to mention that with most originals you don't need to frame them, saving another few hundred $$$.
I think that between the combination of print prices shooting up and social media making emerging artists more accessible directly (oftentimes without a gallery in between), I'm probably buying 5 originals for every 1 print moving forward. Also, as my tastes evolve and I better understand what I like, there's more satisfaction in discovering new artists and building a personal relationship with them. I can't imagine that I'm alone here.
Anyway, somewhat off topic, and i'm going entirely off empirical evidence, but it's a fascinating topic to discuss.

I personally think itโs a downward trend in the print market in general. Dolk, Martin Whatson, Pez and of course Eelus. I used to be gutted when I missed a drop but now Iโve realised part of it is just about being caught up in the hype. Obviously Iโve just used these artists as examples but even some new unknown artists are charging high first release prices. And Pez used to do some lovey sketch book drawings. Loved those!

Galleries charging secondary market prices for print releases and the majority of buyers accepting this will slowly have a downward trend on prints , they are too expensive for most Artists .
Kunatrassen for an example ยฃ20-ยฃ50 for originals gallery takes over ,plays on hype ,popular for a short while ,prices increases and then falls in the background . Part of the fun for some was buying prints of an emerging artist and seeing a monetary gain. As mentioned prints few years back ยฃ50-ยฃ100 See how pez next release phases out ?

PEZ ๐ซ๐ท Pierre-Yves Riveau โข New Release โข Art For Sale, by chevyav53 on Mar 19, 2019 0:24:23 GMT 1, A mono went for ยฃ450 earlier on the bay. I reckon the print market in general is on a downward trend. You could pick up a nice original by a new artist for that sort of money, especially when a print that size would likely cost you ยฃ350+ to get framed on top of that. my mono is currently at the framers and even without getting the museum plexi, the framing was well beyond that...its big...almost as big as the zero tolerance by whatson, so it does require some space. i think its a bit more unique that a lot of the print releases that have come out lately...most of my friends identify an artist by their signature 'thing' with this, its unlike any of his other print releases which is a big reason i like it. Pez does tend to make large prints. I have alter ego on the wall and that was probably around $800 I think I spent but I went big on it to really make it pop.
I do like trends and it was mentioned above, I wonder if larger prints will struggle with increasing framing costs. Will that change artists choices for print size. Of course since this sold out no change until they don't for Pez but if flippers can't make money sell outs will be less frequent.

PEZ ๐ซ๐ท Pierre-Yves Riveau โข New Release โข Art For Sale, by kuni on Mar 19, 2019 17:21:30 GMT 1, Think they got smart and out before they lost anymore money. The original price for those was ยฃ495. Be curious if slowdown in print market or artist. As you mentioned with framing Pez had originals for that much. Not Mirage of course but some of the smaller pieces. I totally feel you on the "used to be gutted" when I missed a print drop. I think that feeling was only exacerbated after I discovered this forum, especially right after I started reading the posts here. I ended up buying a handful of prints that I didn't really love and would never make the wall, only because I saw everyone else hyping them. I may have purchased some art that didn't make the wall years ago, but at $50 a print it wasn't a big deal. Then you start realizing the sheer quantity of releases out there today, and that there's literally an unlimited number of artists and print releases. Thankfully I've become a lot more discerning, and only buy art that I would want to have on my walls.

PEZ ๐ซ๐ท Pierre-Yves Riveau โข New Release โข Art For Sale, by chevyav53 on Mar 20, 2019 22:55:04 GMT 1, Should be pretty obvious in all my posts on this thread. I did want it now enjoy teasing the wannabe flippers jumping into markets they donโt understand. I appreciate their help in past acquisitions such as Hebru Brantley and others I was able to get below cost and am interested how this one turns out. there have been variants out as well. One recently popped up on eBay and wondered how many waiting in wings as more prints continue to appear. A mono went for ยฃ450 earlier on the bay. I reckon the print market in general is on a downward trend. You could pick up a nice original by a new artist for that sort of money, especially when a print that size would likely cost you ยฃ350+ to get framed on top of that. yup.... the variants waiting in the wings.... I wasn't going to continue laughing because I know so many here are sour about trying to flip this piece and realizing their mistake.... however some genius put the Mono Variant for $2k after one sells for below cost... .... guess the mondo sales aint cutting it

you want to talk about the cost of prints and the saturation of prints vs. new artists and originals...thats a conversation for its own thread as masong said

As I have said in this thread and it continues to be missed as you and others continue to ask, yes I did initially want the print, think it is a beautiful print.
I am not pleased how many went to non-framing customers.... that is why you are not seeing them posted here, plus this does not say Framed Pez it says Pez Mirage print thread. It is not because of me they are not posting it is because most of the users are flipping them if they have them.
I would be more than encouraging to see those posts.

mark1 on page 6 of this thread went to the trouble of posting his five different mock ups for framing of his print and got 6 likes. If he had a postcard to give away in the competition and giveaways section he would of got over a hundred. Just shows this place is sometimes all about what you can get...
