Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by jp on Apr 25, 2015 6:42:04 GMT 1, There are some limited edition books from gallery shows in the 80s out there, but prices have climbed pretty high for these in the last few years.
One that I can personally recommend is his book "drawings" from 1985 (Gallery Bruno Bischofsberger and Mary Boone Gallery), which is an edition of 1000, all signed. Here is a copy that is personally inscribed, but likely is selling for a small fortune:
www.vincefinearts.com/jean-michel-basquiat-books/
Or grab the regular edition on amazon:

Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by esthetic on Apr 25, 2015 17:05:59 GMT 1, I'm selling a unique polaroid by Basquiat called "Motorcycle cart". The polaroid is from 1988 and comes from the Kelle Inman Collection. It has been sold by Lead Apron Gallery in LA and I have acquired it from the gallery MultiplesInc in Hensingรธr, Denmark. The polaroid is 10 x 10 cm. Framed it is 32 x 27 cm. The piece has been framed to museum standard. I'm open to any offers.
Here is an excerpt from Vanity Fair 2010. Article by Susan Michals:
Twenty-two years after the death of Jean-Michel Basquiat, museums and art Spaces the world over are celebrating his 50th birthday, which would have been Next month. In California, one art dealer has assembled a special collection of ephemera and personal photographs of the artist, courtesy of a former lover. In 2010, artist Jean-Michel Basquiat would have turned 50 years old. And in half-century celebration, there are events all over the world: In Paris, you can see more than 100 of his works at the Museum of Modern Art through January 2011, as well as a special exhibition at Galerie Pascal Lansberg. In other cities, you can catch Tamra Davisโs new documentary, The Radiant Child, centered on an interview the director shot with Basquiat more than 20 years ago. And in New York, a Basquiat exhibition was on display for much of the fall at the Robert Miller Gallery in Chelsea. But in Los Angeles, there resides a much more personal collection. At Lead Apron, a gallery on Melrose Place, gallerist Jonathan Brown has an unusual collection of ephemera: 112 pieces belonging to Basquiat, including self-portraits and even the signature bow tie he wore in his hair, all from the last year of his life. Brown acquired this collection about five years ago from an old friend, Kelle Inman, Basquiatโs last girlfriend. "Kelle had a real mothering instinct; she wanted to care for you," Brown says. "I think that may have been some of her connection to Jean-Michel, because she spent the last year of his life with him. She nursed him, cared for him, and tried to help him get off drugs". Inman and Basquiat met when she was working as a waitress at Nellโs; two days later, she was living with him. "She didnโt really know who he was", says The Radiant Child director Tamra Davis, who knew Inman during the relationship."My sense is she wasnโt starstruck, per se, more than he was someone in need", adds Brown, of their relationship. All of the objects in the collection, given to her by Basquiat, belonged to Ms. Inman (who passed away in July). Some of it has his handwriting on it; and some of it doesnโt, so it was difficult to authenticate outside of Kelleโs word - though everybody knew she was with him. There were pictures of them together; notes written to her, so there was no reason for her to manufacture anything, he says. Itโs as if youโre working with a penumbra of an idea of someoneโs life, this is just filling it in, Brown says. There are photos he took in New Orleans that he used as references for his artwork. He wrote on them, โ4x5, one regโ - meaning he meant to blow them up and use them as source material. These are Basquiatโs curatorialpicks, his edited life. This is a trail, a genealogy of ideas.

There are plenty of fast fashion pieces imprinted with trademark Keith Haring characters and Jean-Michel Basquiat crowns, but now art-loving clotheshorses โ and fashion-loving art collectors โ can have the real deal. On Tuesday, auction house Swann Galleries will sell off a number of rare clothing items graffitied, or โtagged,โ by Haring and Basquiat, as well as Andy Warhol and other key figures from New York Cityโs โ80s street art scene. The collection of ephemera comes from Joy Bouldin, a former door girl at legendary new-wave nightclub Danceteria, where art world superstars raged with the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Cyndi Lauper and RuPaul while Grace Jones, the Smiths, Madonna and countless others performed. Bouldin tells her story in an accompanying video. It starts with how she met Warhol at 18 in 1981, quit her corporate job to be a downtown โtrendyโ a year later and, by โ84, was modeling for Basquiat. No big deal. She also shares anecdotes for each of the pieces, which are perfect prizes for discerning patrons โ or punks with a couple (or 50) grand to spare. Check out the highlights: โ[In the โ80s,] people were tagging buildings, subway trains and things like that, and it was sort of my idea to translate that into fashion. On the back of this particular jacket, the largest piece is by Shadi . My jacket . . . translated into a wall. Everyone wanted to hit it up, so to speak.โ
โJean-Michelโs first opening, his first solo exhibit at a big gallery โ which was Mary Boone โ was a really big deal. In preparation for the opening I actually bought this white jacket from a vintage store. I had a black marker in my hand, and I went [to the opening] with the full intent to have this jacket tagged for me.โ
โThis happened on the night of Keith Haringโs โParty of Lifeโ [in 1984]. I went to the party with Jean-Michel and Andy Warhol โ they were my two sidekicks that night โ and I asked Andy if he would tag it for me. Andy immediately wrote his name and my name, and after that Jean tagged it as well.โ
โHere is a piece [that represents] artists saying, โCan I do something for you? Can you wear my work?โ It speaks to the nature of our friendship. This is a representation by [graffiti artist] Revolt of me at the time, or his imaginary version of me.โ
โKeith Haring . . . actually got down on his knees because of my height and drew this [light bulb character]. I could feel him etching against my back. This is not an image that you see replicated if you were to look at [Haringโs] body of work, so it really speaks to his improvisation and the spirit of where we were at at that particular time on that night.โ
